Pls. help me. I have abundant of questions concerning WDW & Orlando sightseeing?

My hubby, son (1.5 year) & I plan to go WDW this mid June for 10 days/ 9 nights. We plan to stay at Value Resort & buy MYW plus Dining for 10 days, BUT we just buy 7 days Hopper tickets instead of full length of our stay.

My questions are:

- if we buy only 7 days hopper tickets, are we still be able to enter the park on the other 3 days? Isn't the admission included in MYW Package, but we just can't hop to any theme park we want?

- We just buy 7 days hopper ticket b'coz we will arrive in Orlando at 6:40 PM. Pity to use the park tickets so late! So what could we do on arrival? any night Orlando sightseeing or shopping recommended? If yes, pls. tell me where & how to get there.

- my hubby thinks that we should also visit some other places, than theme parks and similar attractions. Where would you recommend us to see/ to do? any cheap outlet nearby WDW?

Update:

- I read gratuities are not incl. in Dining. How does it work? Is it a must? how many %?

- Any Baby food Nestle can be bought in or nearby WDW?

- what's the difference between preffered & standard value resorts' rooms?

- any cheap & GREAT Disney shops outside WDW? where & how to get there?

- When is the date of Mickey Pirate & Pricess Party in June? What is it about?

- Any wal mart or shopping center nearby WDW, on foot distance?

Update 2:

- SHALL I BUY ALSO DISNEY INSURANCE? how much chance will baggage loss or delay take place?

- Isn't it too noisy to have preffered room?

- Is the fireworks every night? from where can I enjoy this?

- can I make restaurant reservation through email? how can I decide which date to go which restaurant for reservation?

If you buy tickets for seven days, you will only be able to go to the parks for seven days.

As far as shopping goes, there is plenty within Disney and outside of Disney, but there is nothing within walking distance unless you want to walk for a long, l-o-n-g time.

If you want something else to do, I would suggest a beach day. Cocoa beach is only an hour away and your son will enjoy it. Ten days is a long time to take your baby to the theme parks every day. He will be incredibly overstimulated. If you have three days away from Disney, don't lump them together - spread them out to spare everyone from getting overtired.

Personally, I would purchase five day passes and Go to the beach one day, maybe Sea World another. There is also Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure and smaller parks like Gatorland and Cypress Gardens. You've got two huge malls, the Florida Mall and Mall at Millenia. There are the Prime Outlets and Premium Outlets. There are also the waterparks, Wet & Wild, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and Sea Worlds brand new waterpark, Aquatica. What you want to do with your time here is up to your own personal preferences, but I think that exploring outside of Disney is a great idea.

For more info try http://www.allears.net/ and http://www.mousesavers.com/

Allears.net has tons of info on dining and menus/prices. I don't think you can make reservations through email. There are some places that are so busy, you should think about making reservations now.

I wouldn't buy any sort of insurance. If you have homeowners insurance, it should cover any losses that you would have.

I am going to try to do this one step at a time.

    1) If you have 7 day park hopper tickets you can not enter the parks the other three days without purchasing additional days. They are not included in the package. The package is for the the 7 day park hopper tickets that you picked. But, it is very cheap and easy to upgrade your tickets to add the additional days.

    2) Because you arrive so late, I would recommend getting settled in the hotel and relaxing that evening. That way you are well rested and able to enjoy your first full day in the parks.

    3) A ten day trip with only 7 days of tickets is a good thing. It will allow you plenty of time to relax and take a break from the parks. The parks are very stimulating, especially for a young child, you can enjoy some down days and enjoy the pool at the resort.

    4) Tips are not included in your dining package. The average tip for good service is 18-20%. If the service is bad you should tip less, if it is extraodinary, you should tip more. Several options will be available to you when you get your check.

    5) I would recommend bringing any baby products you need or using a grocery delivery service. The products at Disney can be very pricey. I like, we go shop.

    6) There are some outlets near Disney for souviners. They are only a good bargin if you are buying a lot or if you have a car.

    7) You are traveling during a very busy season. I would use an itinerary and touring plans service to make the most out of an expensive trip. We have used Custom Mouse Plans and they are great! They seem a little pricey at first, but then I compared it to how much the trips cost and I realized they were worth every penny. They helped us avoid the long lines that are so common at Disney World.

    8) There is only one Pirate and Princess Party in June. June 4th.

    I hope I helped!

I totally agree with your husband. I think anyone who visits Florida, especially Central, Just for the parks, misses a lot.

I have no clue about the package, or Hopper, but have to believe restrictions are clearly listed.

Part of your Q can't strictly be answered, given that you don't state getting a rental vehicle at the airport. There are direct transport acomodations to and from there and the parks/resorts.

O town shuts down after 5 other than bars/Clubs. Even during the day it's a commerce town, not strictly a walk around town. Arriving at 6:40 you may not exit the airport until 7:40 and a trip to your stay over may be another 45 plus minutes. Certainly there is night life on property, but impractical with a baby.

The nearest OUTLET "mall" Is close to WDW at the far west end of I drive and is easily accessed from I-4/ 192, etc. It's well advertised, and themed in a typical FL/attractions style.

I Drive itself is best a daytime experience, and in my opinion a bit seedy.

Other places to visit will again, depend on a rental vehicle, or at least shuttle services, and we are a tourism driven economy, so the places number in the hundreds, depending on interests, and your desire to take the 1.5 anywhere. I drive does have minor attractions beyond the cheesy shopping, and again, the 1.5 will not get much from any experience, no offense.

Since you will probably be tired from the flight, you could just relax at the pool, and have a nice dinner at the hotel so that you can get to bed early and be all rested for the next day. Or you could visit downtown disney. Its a great shopping area, and very pretty. Lots of neat shops, and restaurants.

Also, if you wanted a break from the parks you could do a dinner theater evening, or the Cirque do soliel in the Downtown Disney area...FABULOUS!!!!

I do believe you need to use your 7 day passes within 7 days. We did the magic your way, and you visit one park on one day , another the next, etc....It worked out really well for us. I know alot of people like the hopper tickets, but it takes so much time to go from park to park in one day that you waste alot of time doing that, but to each his own. Regardless of which you choose you will most definately have a fantastic time. I envy you, I wish we were going this year, but not until next may. Have a great time.

-if you do decide to go to the parks for the other 3 days you can only go to the one park for the whole day. you can leave the park and come back.. but you can not go to another park.

    - you could shop in downtown disney on your first night...

-prefered resort rooms are right beside the pool and the food court and very close to the busses. standard may be in any other building on the property. i reccomend the prefered because it is alot easier if you need to get food or a drink to just walk up a path rather than walk across the entire resort.

When my children were younger, we went to the Orlando Science Center. . . I think your toddler would enjoy that, and it's a nice break from the touristy, hot parks. 7-days worth of park hopping would be tiring! It's near downtown Orlando (www.osc.org). You can then check out downtown Orlando, go walk around Church Street Station and grab lunch or dinner. A little cheesy and touristy. . . night spot for the younger crowd, but different from the parks: http://orlando.travelape.com/attractions/church-st...

When we lived in Orlando, I use to love to go down to Park Avenue in Winter Park (Fairbanks or Lee exits off I-4). . . it's quaint, charming street of boutiques, restaurants/cafes, park area. . . and I think there might be a boat ride? Again, I nice respite from the parks.

Not familiar with the park-hopper perks, but if you can, I'd definitely spend a day or two at either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon to do the water activities -- it will be nice to cool off.

Purchase discounted Disney souvenirs & wearables at the Character Warehouse. Closest one is at 8200 Vineland Ave., Lake Buena Vista 32821(just across I-4 from Disney property).

WalMart: both are about 4 - 5 mi. away (not walking distance). 3250 Vineland Rd., Kissimmee or

8990 Turkey Lake Road Orlando 32819. If you go to www.walmart.com and insert the "32821" zip code, you'll get a map of all WalMart locations near Lake Buena Vista. If you grocery shop anywhere near Disney property, it will be more expensive. There's also a Publix on Sand Lake Road near Turkey Lake Road for groceries. They also have a Panera Bread and Barnes/Noble or Borders in that shopping center too.

10 days seems like a long time down there. Anyway, there is an outlet center called Premium Outlets right outside of Disney world. It is very big and has lots of stores.

I agree with all the other answers. We bought the insurance in the event there was a hurricane and we needed to cancel our trip. That way we would not have to pay again . Also, it is VERY HOT that time of year. Please keep plenty of fluids in your little one. Especially b/c they will be sitting low in a stroller where the breeze is not as good. When we went last year in June, the temp. averaged over 100 with 95-100% humitidy.

I'd suggest you get Birnbaum's "Unofficial" guide to WDW. It has a ton of very useful info.
