what lawn do i have?

it's buffalo - but it's coming up with purplish type serrated tips on it. all website refer to purpling in buffalo only occuring in winter.

what type of buffalo is it?

    Since you know that it is buffalo, you have solved half the question. The coloring of the grass is due to high amounts of phosphorous in the soil. If you decide to fertilize, do so with light applications of a good balanced fertilizer that supplies a 10 or 15 % nitrogen. You should see an improvement in 2-3 weeks. I'm in San Antonio, Texas and am glad to hear that you are growing buffalo grass in Perth. I'm always interested in results that other climates have to offer our foliage companions.
