Obsession with evolution versus creationism?

Almost have the questions and answers in here are on this topic. Does anyone realize that there is no resolution in this debate, but while the debate continues ad nauseum, people are missing the opportunity and responsibility to be fully present in the creation that they theorize about?

Ah Linda, i couldn't have said it better. I for one am giving up on the subject.

On on side there are the creationist who ask questions that they are not interested in hearing the answer to, mixed up with all sorts of missinformation and nonsense

On the other side there are the evolutionists, who are actualy worse. I mean, have you ever been mistaken by a creationist and called an ignorant by someone who didn't even correctly read your question. That can be very, very annoying. With creationists at least there is some sort of reasoning. With evolutionists, once they put in their heads that you're criticising evolution its pointless. They are very fundie about evolution and wont allow any kind of criticism to it.

It all gets me very sad, and i'm giving up, i mean. Just let people believe what they want in the subject of evolution, is it really that important?

There is an obsession with this precisely because religious fundamentalists want it to seem that there is indeed a genuine debate between two views that are equally scientific and equally coherent, evolution and young-earth creationism. But the truth of the matter is that only one of these is a scientific viewpoint.

Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly agree with your point, which others have put in something like the following way: When it comes time to give an account of our lives before God, we will not be asked how accurately we understood the processes involved in the world coming to be; we'll be asked what we did with and in the creation.

Not a concern for me as a debate topic, but it is of great concern for me when it comes to the Separation of Church and State and the policies that affect that; what do my representatives believe, what does my community believe in terms of public education, etc.

Beliefs vs science isn't just haphazard conjecture anymore. More accurately, some Christian's beliefs vs any other thinking gets my goat. Most Christians I know believe in evolution in general but differ on what caused the Big Bang, and they have no interest in the why's being taught so much as the hows.

I agree that we need to be present in creation. I do think the debate is important, though, as some of our children are not being taught solid science in America. I do realize that 99.99% of the people here are not going to change their minds, but maybe, just maybe, someone will stop to think about it seriously.

By the way, that Intelligent Falling article in the Onion is a satire and not to be taken seriously!!!! I do recommend reading it, as its hysterically funny.

"Does anyone realize that there is no resolution in this debate".

    Well, no.

The debate has been resolved: creationism is false, and evolution is true.

The fact that the creationists continue to bray about it reminds me of that knight in Monty Python's "Holy Grail" who bravely continues to shout "Come back and fight like a man!" after his arms and legs have been hacked off by a swordsman.

Creationists, you're long dead, and you're just too slow to realize it.

I'm well aware that's there's no resolution. Actually, I rarely think about creation vs evolution unless someone asks a question about it. I made up my mind when I was 12.

Debate, what is there to debate - there is a lot of evidence for Evolution and none for creationism. The best creationists can do is poke holes in evolution, they have no basis for their version except a 2000 year old book.

Yeah, but what's the point in being present in a creation which you don't strive to understand? That would be plain boring.

I get some fan mail from people in R&S. If I am reaching one person, I am not missing any opportunity.

It is perfectly capable of resolution. It has been proved that evolution is accurate.

But religion has no bounds to its lunacy.

A fine example is the new theory of Intelligent Gravity. Newton and Einstein were wrong, gravity is god pushing things. think this is a joke? You are wrong - its brought to you by the same people who brought you ID. See the link.
