Can you handle good news about Catholic Christian teen agers?

I just came back from observing the closing of Catholic Heart Work Camp in Tampa, Florida. About 250 teens from around the country spent the week working very hard to help the poor, disabled and abandoned.

Can all the haters and nay sayers in here take a minute to rejoice in kids who give of themselves in this way>

I am not Catholic. I work for them. I am not always sure I am Christian, at least not in the way most perceive Christianity.

But I do hope you will join me in giving thanks every time young people or any people, put aside fear and hatred and selfish aims to reach out to the suffering.

OH, and the music at the closing prayer service nearly made me deaf but I was thankful to be there. Young people are life renewing itself.

Teens often get a bad rap in society today. But I know first hand that there are a lot of great teenagers out there, like this group you've described. I love to hear these kinds of stories. Thanks for sharing it.

My daughter belongs to our parish Youth Ministry group. They've done many wonderful Christian service projects over the last year. They give of their limited free time, their energy, their talents and help people they don't even know on a regular basis. They're an awesome group of kids.

How awesome is this! I think back to my days in the CYO and we did many many things like this and it was such a great experience. I see the Youth at my parish working and volunteering for others and it reminds me there is more to the world than the media reports. There is good out there, and thank you so much for sharing this with us.

    Peace be with you.

I don't think anyone is here to argue against the organized charity work that some religious groups do is beneficial. However, the real problem comes when a lack of religion is claimed to lead to a lack of caring and charity.

Its really cool when people give back.

That's good news indeed! In this day and age, when teens get such a bad rap in the media, it's nice to know that there are those who really are good people.
