What do you think about MySpace and children using it?

I watch TV shows on how much harrasment, etc children are getting through MySpace. It is a new form of bullying.

Also, there is a 14 year old age limit, but children can just lie and say that they are 14. What are the limits here?

It is almost scary to think about.

I grew up without a computer in the home, it's not a NECESSITY, I didn't die without it. Kids shouldn't be on the computer period, parents don't want to spend the necessary time with kids to keep them from being lured into the lure of a predators arms.

It's the parents responsibility to ensure the safety of his or her child. I have never seen so many parents blame external things on why there kids are being preyed upon. Safety starts at home and branches out into the community.

I remember when I was growing up, my mom made sure my brother knew how to protect me and he was a pit bull honey lol!

Why allow predators in your home because that is what's happening when kids are chatting it up and playing online.

If Parents allow their children to use the computer without supervision, that is at their discretion. I personally think that bullying is something that children learn at home. If a parent lets the child get away with it, what does that say about the parent?

We live in a world now where parents are hands off and are trying their best to not "spank" their kids. I grew up fearful that a bad attitude would result in a spanking. Therefore I was nice to others.

It is scary to think that children under 14 are finding ways to lie to the websites, but there are parental controls and blocks that parents can put into effect.

Educating children of the issues isn't a bad idea. I don't have children yet, but I have been raising my little sister. At every moment that I have, I try to teach her manners, etiquette, and common good.

It's hard when you can't control what other children say to your kids. You can only hope that your good parenting has taught them a valuable lesson.

Personally, I love MySpace, but I'm 35 and use it to stay in contact with friends and family.

When it comes to kids, though, it can definitely be something that should be carefully watched by the parents. Although there are safeguards, sometimes teenagers make bad decisions about whom to trust.
