I need ideas for my son's sixteen birthday. A cheap and fun party for boys same age.?

I am encouraging him to invite girls but I don't know yet if he will. He is interested in Xbox, graphic design(photoshop), he is funny but reserved. Have lots of mates with same interest. I have the time to prepare, so I want cheap but fun. Ideas please. Probably I will be putting the box under house, where there is plenty of space to connect tvs etc... Also would like to make a memento to give ho his friends, something inexpensive but memorable of his day. Ideas? Thanks all.

Just let the boys and possibly girls hang out by themselves in his room. Let your son rent a movie that he thinks he wants to watch (maybe a horror movie). Or let him just play Xbox games all day and night with his buddies. I think you should avoid being overly involved in the going-ons since it might not be very "cool" for you to do that and he might get embarrassed, especially if there are girls, don't make a huge deal about the girls being there in front of him and them. (Like no teasing).

Take a photo of the group and get copies made. Frame it and have your son give one to each of his friends that came to his party.

IF the girls do end up showing up, make the girls some Pina Coladas or Strawberry Daqaris (Virgin of course) and the boys some non-alcoholic beer and let them all sit out by the pool together if you have one and its nice outside. I bet they would think that was neat!

Someone said virtual scavenger hunt.....but I'd suggest a Real scavenger hunt. Give the boys a list of things to ask the neighbors for. The sillier the better.

Something from the kitchen, garage, lingerie drawer, trashbasket, dirty laundry.....desk drawer. Whoever gets the most items on the list wins!

That way they would gather a momento of the day to keep.

Another thing that might be fun would be to have them bring black t-shirts. You provide some fabric paints and have them design shirts. Your son gets first pick, then everyone else gets a shirt that you distribute creatively.

On my son's 16th birthday he chose one friend to accompany him and his folks to Hooters. The Hooter girls did a little fun birthday dance around him. They embarassed him just a little but it was a very memorable time.

    Good Luck!

Why not just let him invite a few close friends over for dinner. Not many 16 year olds is gonna want their mother throwing them a party. So cook the meal and leave the area (not the house).

attempt Oriental procuring and advertising - they have a gaggle of relaxing stuff this is provided in packs of 8 or 10 this is fairly low-fee. you additionally can go the "Mythbusters" direction and attempt some relaxing baby- type experiments. The Mentos & eating ordinary Coke test is messy - yet incredible for a gaggle of little boys. (drop a mint Mentos right into a 2 liter bottle of coke - it creates a great fountain of soda...)

if he is 16 and doesnt want girls...there might be a problem. a couple ideas: rent out a big party room where you can connect maybe 10 tvs. get the latest games and have everyone bring some of there own.

    The memento thing...

maybe find an old embarrassing picture of him (like when he was in first grade) and get buttons made with his pic on it and hand 'em out.

Renting movies and Xbox games and ordering pizza and making popcorn.
