How to get dark roots a golden brown?
I have been really confused about which colour level and tone I need to use on my roots to match the rest of my hair, my hair is a medium golden brown and my roots are a very dark brown (level 2 maybe) with some slight red tones to it.
If I want my roots to be a golden brown do I need to use a golden toned dye to give it the golden colour or do I need to use an ash colour to get rid of the red in my hair. I'.m worried if i use an ash colour it won't look golden but I definitley don't want any red in my hair.. Or should I use a neutral toned brown (worried this would look too dull, too red, or not golden enough)

This is gonna be long... but I REALLY need help haha.
Basically my natural hair colour is a very dark brown, almost black colour. Last winter, i ombred my hair. I bleached the ends twice to get a bit of a gradient, I had a gingery colour going to a lighter blonde. I have since trimmed the ends of my hair and only have a bit of a dark gingery colour on the tips of my hair. 2 months ago I put in some highlights in the top half of my hair myself using bleach, I left the bleach on quite long and got a very ashy blonde colour, which is still quite intense but has darkened a bit. My roots have grown out a bit and I have quite black looking roots.
I have all these different tones in my hair and really just want it a nice, warm dark/medium brown colour to go with my skintone. I really want to do it myself using a box colour since I can't afford to go to the hairdressers. I don't mind if some of my highlights show through a bit but I want everything more blended and natural and consistent looking.
Will using a plain dark brown box dye fix it? And if so how should I apply it to get my hair even?
