When will professional ballet companies start hiring more black female dancers?
I live in NYC and love attending the ballet, especially NYCB. I understand that classical ballet focuses on ethereal female lead roles that require a certain body type that more white female dancers are believed to have, but grouping ALL black dancers as having too athletic of a body, and therefore they are only suited for more "grounded" roles, is just ridiculous, IMO. I do enjoy NYCB productions, but I would love to see a dancer that brings something different to the stage and can take a classical role and make it her own.

I graduate nursing school next week and my classmates and I are having a pot luck lunch in the park. One of the girls is Orthodox Jewish and each time we have a gathering, she can never eat anything because it isn't kosher. Other than baked goods or candy, what other things can I bring that are kosher that she can eat? I can't prepare anything on/in my oven because I'm not Jewish, so cooking is also out. Any ideas?

Forty-eight hours ago, a client had a catheter placed for peritoneal dialysis. Upon assessment you find a rigid firm abdomen with diffuse pain and absent bowel sounds. What is the most probable reason for this finding and what treatment would you expect the physician to order? Do you think that after this problem is remedied the client will be able to have peritoneal dialysis? If so, when?

A post-operative client experienced an intra-operative period of hypotension. Daily BUN and serum creatinine levels are drawn and both levels have increased to BUN 84 mg/dl. and creatinine 8.4 mg/dl. What does this indicate? What correlation do rising creatinine levels have with functioning nephrons?
2 AnswersMedicine7 years agoPro's and con's of involuntary mental health treatment?
I am a senior nursing student currently taking a public policy class. We have to argue for and against if expanding involuntary mental health treatment is a viable option for addressing patients with mental health issues? I am assigned to the "against side," but am having difficulty finding solid arguments supported by research why it will not be effective. So far, the only against I can think of is the stigma attached to having a mental health history and the difficulty in enforcing treatment due to privacy laws.
Any other suggestions would be helpful!
2 AnswersMental Health7 years agoWhere to stay in Myrtle Beach?
I'm going to a wedding in NC and then making the drive to Myrtle Beach for a few days in April. I want to stay within walking distance to a lot of attractions and nightlife, at an oceanfront property, and preferably with an indoor pool as it will be April and still a little chilly. I don't want to spend more than $150 - $160 a night. Any ideas?
2 AnswersOther - United States7 years agoCleaning the inside of a gas range?
I'm moving out of my Brooklyn apartment in large apartment building after living here for 4 years. I'm doing a deep cleaning of the apartment before I leave, but I am unsure of how to tackle the gas range. After 4 years, there's a lot of caked on grease and nastiness when you lift up the top part of the range. I've tried to clean it in the past, but all the "pipes" leading from the ignition switches to the burners make it difficult to actually clean as well as the pilot being lit and I don't really feel like blowing up the place. Is there anyway to clean it safely? Or should I just leave it alone?
2 AnswersCleaning & Laundry8 years agoHow to tell a friend to lay off the PDA?
A good friend of mine (who recently turned 28) is in her first adult relationship. She's dated, but never had a relationship except for a friend she dated in middle school and high-school (it ended before she turned 16). She works with the guy she's dating now and they have been together since about January. He seems like an okay guy, definitely not the type of guy I'd date, but they seem to be head over heels in love. They've talked marriage and she plans to get married next year. This is coming from the same girl who spoke against another friend of ours for wanting to be engaged on her 1 year dating anniversary as well as "advised" me to take it slow with the guy I've been dating for 4 years.
All that is fine, but what I find to be a bit odd is how they just can't keep their hands off each other. For those that have been or are in a serious relationship, we all know that rush of feelings we get every time we're around our new boyfriend/girlfriend, but most are able to contain themselves in public. We get together every week so everyone has their husbands/wives/boyfriends/girlfriends over and it's pretty uneventful -- other than a kiss hello, an arm around the shoulder, or a brief caress of the back, we pretty much all keep our hands to ourselves. My friend and her new boyfriend, however, are constantly kissing each other (not full blown make out action, but longer than a quick peck...and with extreme frequency), holding hands under the table, touching each other, giggling at each other, and gazing into each other's eyes. They'll disappear outside for a moment and engage in full blown makeout sessions. It's usually not just us (her peers) that are present, but also her parents, her parent's friends, and sometimes other family members. Everyone seems to think their behavior
is very odd to be doing at their age, but no one knows how to bring it up to them. I think this behavior is very juvenile and something 15-year-old kids would do in the school's cafeteria, not something almost 30-year-olds should be doing. Is it a bit strange? And how do we bring it up that what they're doing is.........weird and, well, a little uncomfortable to witness?
1 AnswerFriends8 years agoAreas around Houston that are nice to live?
I'm graduating with my BSN next year and am considering moving to the Houston area when I finish. I'm originally from a small town in upstate NY, but have been living in the NYC area for the past 10 years (half on Long Island, half in NYC). I'm not really a huge fan of NYC and am REALLY looking forward to leaving and I've heard good things about TX. Any suggestions? I don't really care if I live directly in Houston, I'm fine with (and would actually prefer) to live in the suburbs. I will also be 31 at the time and no children so the great nightlife for the 20 something's and good schools aren't really a concern.

I don't want a letter of reccomendation, but just thank her. Should I send an e-mail thanking her or just leave it alone?

Researchers have developed a synthetic vaccine that lacks the genetic material of the virus for foot-and-mouth disease. They injected it into 8 cows, 5 showed immunity. Does it seem safe to use a synthetic virus lacking genetic material for immunity?

1 AnswerBiology8 years agoIs a credit union better than a major bank?
I've been banking with Chase for several years and it's been okay. Aside from the taking away of perks and being hit with insane fees if you aren't careful, it hasn't been too bad. A couple years ago there was a fraudulent charge for about $200 -- I called Chase right away and the money was refunded in a couple days. A few days ago, someone had transferred $712.65 from my Chase account into a Centurion bank account that I never set up nor authorized. Chase has been giving me the run-around about getting the money back and I'm ready to just close my account completely with Chase. Am I better off going to a credit union, or will I be facing them same BS there as well?
