  • Does my major for my Bachelor's degree have to be the same as the one I got my Associates in?

I have almost completed an Associates degree in Liberal Arts. I was planning on getting a Bachelors in Criminal Justice but in order to do that, does my Associates have to be an Associates in Criminal Justice as well? Thanks!

  • Throat and digestive issue...what is it?

This has been going on for about three months now - I am having some medical issues and I don't know what it is. First, my throat. I have had difficulty swallowing saliva. I don't have a problem with food or water but when I'm just regularly breathing I'll try to swallow and my throat feels like it gets caught. I can feel the muscle but it's not working. This is happening constantly on a daily basis. Also, I have had symptoms of GERD/acid reflux. Those appear quite frequently but an even bigger issue is I have been extremely gassy. I'll burp/pass gas A LOT during the day and it can be especially bad at night (the farting) when I'm lying down. My stomach will make these bubbling/gurgling noises (which I can also feel) and they can be so loud that even people around me can hear them.

Does anyone know what's wrong? I was first diagnosed with acid reflux/GERD. I took two different types of medication for it but neither seemed to work. I then had an upper endoscopy done with no results. Celiac test was taken and came back negative. We were thinking it could be lactose intolerance. Still waiting for the test results on that.

Online, it's said I might have irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease), etc.

This has been going on so long though and I want it to stop. Anyone out there have an idea? Thanks!

  • What is a good topic for a college essay about an issue of personal importance?

The topic of the essay has to be: choose an issue of importance to you—the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in scope—and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation.

A lot of the stuff I have read online says, even if you choose to write about a big, global issue you must relate it back to you and your personal experience so they get to know you. But I am having the HARDEST time thinking of an issue to write about. I have considered talking about divorce (since my parents are divorced) but I cannot really think of anything else. Any help would be SO appreciated!!!! Thanks!

  • College Application Question....?

    Hi,

I have taken college courses at a community college and earned my Associates Degree from that. I am now planning on attending a university in Fall 2015 and figured I would have to apply for transfer admission.

However, the application for undergraduate admission opens tomorrow while the application for transfer admission opens in October. I guess I am wondering, can I apply for undergraduate admission even though I have about 90 credits (my Associates Degree) already under my belt? If not, could I still apply for undergraduate admission, wait till I hear whether or not I was accepted, and then change it to a transfer admission? Probably stupid questions but I'm curious to know. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Just got hired question....?

So I just got hired at a grocery store. My employer is asking me to bring in my Social Security card, my Driver's License, and a Direct Deposit slip from my previous employer. I just moved here a month ago from out of state and didn't bring a direct deposit slip with me and there are none back at my previous address. Is there something I can do instead? Is it possible to get a copy of a direct deposit slip from the bank or my previous employer? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Changing state on driver's license?

Hi, I have lived in Washington State and therefore have a Washington State Driver's License. I just recently (in the past week) moved down to Texas. I am looking to buy a car now and am wondering how I go about getting a Texas Driver's License. Do I need to retake the tests again or do I just need to fill out a sheet that says I moved? Any answer helps! Thanks!

  • Christian man struggling with lust......?

Hi, I am 19 years old and I am a Christian man. However, for the past year or two, I have been struggling with lust and masturbation. I try to stop and I always find myself failing. I'm sick of failing too because I feel like i am failing God and I have done it so much now that I feel almost immune to the worries I had which isn't good. Any Christian guys out there struggling with the same thing? How did you overcome it? Thanks! God Bless!

  • Movie running time in theater question?

Hi everyone! I have a question that might be really stupid. I'm planning on seeing the movie "Gravity" on Tuesday which starts at 5:00. According to Fandango, the runtime of the movie is 1 hour, 31 minutes. I have a class at a community college that is about 5 minutes away from the theater at 6:45. I am just curious, if the movie starts at 5:00 with the additional runtime of previews, about what time would it get out? And do you think it would get out in time for me to get to my class? Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Burning to a disc question?

Hello! I have a movie I created on my computer that is in MPEG format and is 1 hour and 59 minutes long. I have some blank discs that are 4.7 GB and claim to be able to hold up to 120 minutes (2 hours). Would my very nearly two hour movie fit onto the disc or would it be too much? Thanks! Might be a stupid question...

  • Any good story/concept ideas for a TV show you would like to see?

Hey, I was trying to think of a concept that would make for a really great/compelling TV show (not a reality show but a drama). I know a lot of people on here don't like to share ideas so please don't post anything asking me to think of things myself. Just seeing if any fellow creative writers/TV and movie watchers have any cool ideas that they would like to see made into a TV show. Thanks!

  • Question about moving out of state...?

Hi, so I am 19 years old. I live in Washington State. I am planning on moving down to San Antonio, Texas. The plan is, if I don't get an apartment before I move down there, to stay with some relatives for the first week or two until I can get an apartment and find a job. I am thinking about flying down there (my aunt is a flight attendant and I could hopefully get a deal from her) but I was wondering.....is there anything I should be bringing down with me? I am planning on bringing the obvious - clothes, bedsheets/pillow, my laptop, and either my actual bed or an air mattress instead. Are these all things I should bring? Is there anything I am forgetting? And should I fly down or would it be better to drive down? Thanks for any advice in advance!

  • Story plot point question....?

Hi, so this is going to be very vague and it is that reason for a purpose because I don't really want you to know the context of these following details. I just need ideas. So, I am writing a script for a film noir and in it there is a subplot where one of the characters (female) is asking for "files" from another character (male). We aren't told what these files are. At one point, the files are handed over but one is missing and the character says she needs that missing file in particular. Now my question to you is - what are the files and what is on the one particular file she needs? Both characters are involved in illegal activities and the female is trying to get out. Sorry for not being very specific but any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Burning a DVD problem...?

Hi, so I am currently trying to burn a movie I made onto a DVD and I am having some trouble. I am using a Memorex DVD and it has plenty of memory (8.5?) on it for the movie (which is a little over two hours). I tried it two times with two different discs on Windows DVD Maker. Both times I got great video quality but the audio was off by just "this" much and it was really aggravating. The third time I used a different program - ConvertxtoDVD and it said there was an error and it closed. Then I used DVDStyler and that came out with decent audio - it skipped over one point though - but the video was strobing meaning it would get blurry when characters were moving around. So then I used Ashampoo Burning Studio and it successfully burned great quality video and great quality audio........but it only burned the first 25 minutes of the movie. Finally, I used ImgBurn and had the exact same results where it had great video and audio but stopped 25 minutes in. I am trying to submit this to a festival and having to go through burning so many discs and having all of them fail is just REALLY aggravating and frustrating. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • Audio/video syncing problem?

Hi, so I have a movie that I'm trying to burn onto a DVD. I did it once and it turned out fine but when I put it into the DVD player to watch it, I noticed the audio trailed the video by a fraction of a second. Not by much but it is noticeable and it lasts through the whole film. I went back and tried burning onto a second disc. I noticed that the burn speed had been put at its fastest setting so I put it on its slowest setting to see if that would make a difference but after playing that DVD on the TV, it still had the same problem. I've Googled solutions to this and they all send links to different software that I don't know how to use and, to be honest, don't want to download in case they are unsafe. When I play the video on the computer, it is fine - there is no problem with the video or audio. Any help on how to fix this? I was wondering if I should just unlink the audio from the video and put it a little forward. That would mess it up on the computer but would it fix the problem on the DVD? I just want some advice so I don't waste another DVD when I burn the movie onto it. Thanks!

  • Family divorce problems. Help...?

Hi, I have a problem that I'm dealing with and I'd like to get some advice. First off, I am 19 years old. I am currently going to a community college. I was planning to take some classes online and end the summer by getting my Associates degree. I got accepted to a university for the fall and am planning to go there after summer. Another fact: my parents are divorced - it's been almost ten years - and they still continue to fight and argue and go to court and it literally has become overwhelming at times. Okay, here's the problem: My dad has now moved from being five minutes away to being forty-five minutes away in an area that my mom is freaking out about because she considers it a "bad neighborhood" (I disagree with her). But she has been saying that she is now going to take my dad to court to try and work it out where we see him less time which is something me and my brothers (I forgot to mention that - I have three younger brothers) are not okay with. I have a car. However, it was given to me by my mom and she has refused to let me take it over to my dads (even when he was only five minutes away) for a very lame reason (he might "damage" it somehow). However, I work here in town so having both parents so close was very convenient. But now I have to make a choice. My dad says I should be able to take the car over to his house (which I agree). However, just driving over there rebelliously (while I would really like to do it) I feel would harm me in the long run because it is a LOT of money I would be spending driving back and forth to work every day when we are over there (every other week usually - sometimes with him two weeks in a row). So, really choosing to live over there would be a problem. And he has said he will not help me get to work when I have a vehicle - which I understand. I know this is an issue I need to stand firmly upon - especially being 19. But the other option, living at my mom's, is not something I want to deal with either. One of the issues with going to college in the fall is that last year she took my dad to court and now he has to pay 1/3 of my college tuition. However, he and my stepmom are NOT financially stable right now at all and I don't want them to be going in debt. So, I don't want to stay at my mom's because I don't want to deal with any more fights, arguments, or court problems. I'm so sick of all of it. What I have decided is to move out. I want to move out, get my own apartment (close to work so I can get rid of the car), and earn more money to go to school on my own (without my parents helping me because I don't want either of them to be forced to pay for me if they are unable to). Both of my parents have been pressing me to take a side (either theirs or the others) but I can't because neither of those sides, I feel, is the right one. Which is why I want to get out. I have not told either of my parents this but my mom seems to have implied what I was thinking and told me that she will support me if I choose to be successful by going to college in the fall because then I will be moved out and on my own while working through school. However, the problems with that are things I have already outlined. And my dad has said he won't support me if I refuse to stand up to my mom (which I actually have done) and take the car over to his place. Again, there are problems with that. What I am worried about is that both will be angry if I choose to move out because they will both say that I am avoiding the problem, my mom will say this is not a successful path at all and i will be going down the same way that my dad is, and my dad will probably be upset because I am choosing to isolate myself from both of them. I don't want to completely abandon my brothers either and I would still communicate with all of them (I'm not going to cut myself off from all of them) but I am just at a loss for what to do. I apologize that this is so long but I needed to get it off my chest and I would really appreciate the responses from anyone who took the time to read this and can offer me some advice on what to do. Thank you!

  • Facebook friend question...?

Hey everyone, so my parents have been divorced for a while but they HATE each other. I have a Facebook and so do my dad and stepmom and a lot of my dad's side of the family - who I am all friends with on there. My mom didn't have a Facebook......until today. She sent me a friend request. Now I know that (privacy settings aside) you can view other people's profiles even if you are not friends with them. I am wondering if there is a way that I can prevent my mom from viewing anything on my dad's profile if I accept her friend request. Any help?

  • Casting for my movie....?

So I am currently casting characters for my film (this is my first time doing this) and one of the people who I would like to be in it (I am communicating with him over e-mail as he is about an hour away from where I am) is auditioning for one of the lead roles. I explained what the film was about to him and said I would like him to be in it. However, he is asking that I send him the script so he can read it before deciding to "be party to my film." My script is registered so it cannot be used/copied but I am just seeking advice about what to do. Should I send him the script? If not, is there something else I should be doing? Any help would be great! Thanks!
