Communication and LDR?
Sorry for the book, but your opinion would be appreciated:
Met a guy about 8 weeks ago who is long distance. We both said that communication is important to us and we agree that two people who are interested should speak at least once a day. Things were going great. We would talk every day for about one to two hours.
Well, two weekends ago, 3 days went by when we did not speak. I text or called once each day, but no return call or text. When we finally spoke, he said he's been very busy. I informed/reminded him of how important communication is, especially in a LDR. And next time, he should send a quick text or quick phone call that he's busy but call soon.
Well, we finally met last Thursday and went out for dinner (he went to his hotel room and I went home that evening). During dinner, he never once answered his phone, but he did check it once. The next morning we met for breakfast before he left to go see his daughter. During breakfast, he took 4 phone calls:
1. From his job but he informed them he was on vacation...but the call still lasted about 5 minutes;
2. From his cousin whom he told he'll talk to him later;
3. From a friend whom he talked to for about 7 minutes (there was no emergency, just chatting like I wasn't there);
4. From his sister, whom I definately understand him taking the call because she watches his daughter. After the first couple of minutes, I could tell that there was no emergency and they began to just chat like he wasn't having a meal with someone he was interested in and just met.
So, on the next day (Friday), I sent him a short text during the day to say I hope he's enjoying his day with his daughter and family and I'll talk to him later...he did not text back. He text me at 11:30pm, to see if I was awake. I was not. I happended to wake up at 12:30 and text back to see if he was up. He text back saying he took some medicine to sleep and that he had a busy day.
I sent a text saying "sure you did". I sent a second text a couple of minutes later "24 hours in a day and you could not give me 5 minutes or less? But you can talk to 4 people while we had breakfast?"
I did not hear from again until today (4 days later) because I text him saying that I was a little hurt and thought that even if we did not start a relationship, we would at least be friends. I asked if he could tell me what I did to make him stop talking to me all together. He responded that he will call me later today to tell me why.
Can anyone guess what I may have done wrong based on the above?

Momma's Boy...What do you think?
I've been dating a guy for a couple of months. Things are ok. He recently told me that his mother has the FINAL say on the woman he ends up with. He ended relationships with women who his mother thought was deceptive and another whose personality she did not like. Don't get me wrong, I value my close friends/family opinion, but to end a relationship with someone based on what a person outside of the relationship feels after one meeting...is crazy. Not to mention, he's a handful by himself.
What do you all think...is it not so crazy for a man to drop a woman based on his mom's opinion? I would hate to give of myself and time to him, only to be chopped and screwed by Moms.

2 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoAm I Needy or Just Need Better Communication?
I'm dating a guy who has two full-time jobs and is also a landlord for several properties. In addition, he lives about 2 hours away. We see each other about once a week and talk about once a day. This is all new for me as I'm used to seeing and hanging with a guy 3-4x a week. This current relationship kind of feels like I'm in a long distance relationship.
PROBLEM: it's a little difficult getting used to his schedule. Our relationship is still new, but I think he expects me to just trust that he's busy. But what I need from him is better/more communication about what he is doing daily. There are times when I "assume" he's free and can be with me, but that ends up not being the case...so I end up feeling slighted or ignored. And at times I wonder if he's doing something other than business. I really like him and want things to work, but I think our communication and trust needs some work.
I found this excerpt from an article:
Talk About Your Day
"A good rule is to cut out a half an hour each night and sit down with the other person. It doesn't have to be a half an hour - it can be two hours, or five - but you need to have some time with each other each night. During this time, you should talk about how your day went. What you did, what happened, and what you're going to do tomorrow. Talking about the simple things, like your day, can do so much more for your relationship that you even realize. The first step to losing trust, is losing that communication of the little things."
Do you think this is needy to want him to share his plans for the next day and what he did today with me? I don't want it to feel like an inquisition...but I need reassurance.

Our wedding theme is centered on 'dreams'. We have a great engagement picture with our eyes closed and decided to use the picture on our favor. But we need help on a quote/saying to put under the picture. All I can come up with is: "Dreams Do Come True". Any other ideas?
6 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoAm I cheap or just being reasonable?
How much should I spend on a guy I've been dating for about 2 months for a Christmas gift? I like him a lot and things are going well. He asked for a Wii...but I laughed so loud and long, I guess he knows that's out. Third on his list (after a desktop computer) was a robe and slippers -- which I may do with some additions (like a pedicure from me and bath stuff -- he likes baths).
But then my girlfriend just told me she asked her guy of 4 months to get her an iPhone for Christmas and she just purchased an XBox 360 for him.
Am I cheap or just being reasonable?

Do you love someone because he or she is a value--a selfish value to you, as determined by your standards--just as you are a value to him or her? Or does a true loving commitment to a person require selflessness, by giving without expectation/conditions?
