  • Field of Dreams: Terence Mann a ghost?

In the movie "Field of Dreams", was Terence Mann a ghost?

When Ray tries to "kidnap" Terence at the beginning of the movie to go to Fenway Park, that's not a ghost.

But at first Terence doesn't claim to have seen the scoreboard flash Moonlight Graham's name and seems reluctant to follow Ray. So, Ray drops him off at his apartment and goes to leave. As soon as Ray turns around the car, there is Terence again.

From this point on, I think he's a ghost.

    1) How did Terence get in front of Ray's car so quickly?

    2) How come nobody else sees Terence after this point? When Ray introduces Terence to his brother-in-law Mark, Mark responds sarcastically "Yeah, and I'm the easter bunny," as if to suggest that Mark doesn't see him. Terence only becomes visible when the rest of the players become visible.

    3) How come Terence is invited into the outfield with the rest of the players at the end of the movie?

  • Computer won't start up...?

I have a Dell E1505 Inspiron notebook computer and it won't start up.

After several minutes of attempting to start, I finally get a blue screen with the following text. What seems to be the problem?

"STOP: c0000211 {Bad Image Checksum} The image SHDOCVW.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum."

  • Google forces IE to close?

Anytime I try to search for something on Google, my IE browser mysteriously closes. The same goes for Yahoo, Wikipedia, and ask.com; anytime I try to run a search for something, the window just closes.

Sometimes I get an error message that lets me know that IE has to close, but most of the time, it just disappears without notice. The end result is the same anyway, the window is gone and I don't have my search result.

What seems to be the problem here? How can I fix this?

  • "Heroes" Ending...?

Why did Nathan Petrelli have to fly off with Peter? How is that any better than Claire just shooting Peter? It seems like Nathan is risking his life for nothing.

Besides, can't Peter fly on his own?

  • Statistics: Expected value of range, given pdf?

This was a question that was on my stats final about two weeks ago and it's still bugging me. I don't necessarily need to know the answer, but if someone can tell me how to solve it, it would be appreciated.

Given a distribution with probability density function:

    f(x) = (3/8)(x^2) for x in the interval [0,2].

Four data points from the given distribution are selected. Define the range to be the highest number of the four minus the lowest number of the four.

What is the expected value of the range?

  • Nintendo Wii - Communication between remote and console?

I just recently purchased a Ninentdo Wii and the first couple of times I played it, it worked just fine. Then, all of a sudden, in the middle of one of my games, the remote and console stopped communicating.

The game console still turns on and is waiting for me to take action. Any time I press a button on the remote, the blue lights flash but nothing else happens. I have two remotes and it's the same for both.

I checked the wiring for the sensor and everything is fine there. The sensor is in the exact same place as when it was previously working and I'm standing in the same place as well.

Anybody have any ideas on how I can fix this?
