  • Why does my brother get HUGE swelling from mosquito bites?

My 21 year old brother and I went hiking near Yosemite in California. We both got mosquito bites. I had normal reactions while each of his ~10 bites swelled to about 3 inches in diameter, very red and puffy/swollen. That's not normal for him. He is taking preventative malaria pills since he went to Guatemala for 3 weeks in June.

Do you think his abnormal reaction is because of the malaria pills he is taking?

Thank you for your help, I'm worried!

  • who's a great doctor in the Bay Area?

My husband has a scalp condition and would like to see someone who can help treat it (preferably naturally). But it seems like all the dermatologists in San Francisco are just all about cosmetic dermatology!

Do you have any suggestions of a good doctor?

    Thank you!

  • Is this what rendered lard is supposed to look like?

My first time rendering lard from pig leaf lard. It isn't white like I thought it would be. Can you look and tell me if it is ok to use? It smells kind of burnt, I think I burnt it since towards the end the fat started steaming(smoking?). I'd like to use this in a pie crust.

    Please help : (

  • please help identify this plant?

This plant was originally a tiny little baby clipping that I got from a hotel in japan town SF. now it is really large and seems like it is doing well. I would really like to know the name of this plant so I can research it and be able to take care of it better. thank you so much for any help.

I don't know how to upload a picture on yahoo answers, but it has lime green colored leavesthat are about 7 inches long and are pointy at the end and the base. the stems are about 3 inches long and about as thick as a thumb. there are roots that continue to grow and try to find water at the bottom of new leaf growths, the roots start out as pink and then if they don't find water they turn brown and dont grow anymore. there are leaf like casings around the new leaf growths that are red and they don't fall off or die either. there is no woody-ness too it.

  • Why do I have abnormal discharge while using Paragard IUD?

I've had Paragard IUD for over 2 years. Sorry for being so specific but, for the last year I have had yellowish/brownish clear, thick, sticky discharge during times not just near menstruation.

    Also,

for the last few months I have had white, paste like discharge with odor.

I have gotten a pap smear, and nothing abnormal was found.

I don't have the usual thin, clear lubricative secretions anymore and consequently my vagina is not wet anymore, which makes sex uncomfortable.

Does anyone know why I might be having these types of discharge? I'd really appreciate any help, my situation is pretty distressing.

Also, if anyone has an IUD, could you share your methods of keeping your vaginal secretions healthy?

    Thank you so so much.
