  • Calculating IV Push medication?

I m at the end of this stupid assignment and I m stuck on one question.

Here s the question (and thanks in advance):

You have an order for 500mg Cefazolin IV q8h. You consult the IV drug admin book, says you can give it IV push. Upon preparation, the volume in your syringe for 500mg is 10mL(/10cc).

You can push the medication over 3-5 minutes. Approximately how many mL(/cc) will you push in per minute?

  • Stats homework help needed - binomials?

The birth control shot is one of the most effective methods of birth control available, and it works best when you get the shot regularly, every 12 weeks. Under ideal conditions, only 1% of women getting the shot become pregnant within one year. In typical use, however, 3% become pregnant.

A study of the effectiveness of the birth control shot interviews a random sample of 600 women who are using the shot as their method of birth control.

    a) Based on the information about typical use, what is the probability that at least 20 of these women become pregnant in the next year under ideal conditions?

    b) We can't use the Normal approximation to the binomial distribution to find this probability under ideal conditions. Why not?

  • When does it start to get snowy on the Coquihalla Highway?

    [[in BC]]

Like, to the point you shouldn't drive if you don't have to because of road conditions? I know December through February it peaks, but does it get bad earlier than December? Like, in early/mid November?

And for that matter how long does it take to clear up?

    Thanks

  • Microsoft Office product key...?

So I had to get my hard drive replaced for my laptop. The previous one was basically dead. On it I had a number of programs I now I have to re-download.

Now, about... two years back, when I first got this laptop, I purchased a Microsoft Office Product Key from London Drugs. Just over $100 for a cardboard thing with a 25 digit code on it. I still have the email with this product key that includes "go to this link to put your pin in and get started!".

Thing is, it keeps giving me an error message. I noticed it requests 27 characters now?

I guess what I'm wondering is if because I got a new hard drive, that means I have to get a new product key? It was one of those one-use ones. When my last hard drive got wiped due to technical issues, I was able to redownload without any issues. But it was the same hard drive, it just needed everything re-added. This time I got new Windows (since the old product key for THAT rubbed off -_-), and a new hard drive. Does this mean my Office "one-time product key" will not work? The computer being used is the same, just some of the inside has changed...

Might be a stupid question, but I'd rather find out now if I need to drop $100+ on a 25-27 character product key or not.

    Thanks!

  • GP referral to psychiatrist?

Long story short, I went to my GP two weeks ago with the intention of getting a referral to a psychiatrist. or basically a mental health professional that can get me tested and do diagnoses (since, looking back, if I don't have ADHD-I then I don't know what's wrong with me).

Thing is, when I went, my GP knew full well I had 6 weeks left until I was going back to school (which is 800km away), so she said she'd refer me and see if she could slip me in for mid/late August. And if not, she'd put me on something for the time being (nothing too serious, because she'd rather wait for a proper diagnosis before giving me the more helpful stuff).

It's been 2 weeks, though. I only have 4 to go until I leave for school. And I haven't heard from her office, or her, or the psychiatrist's office.

She told me before I left that by late August I would at least have 1 more appointment, be it with her or with the psychiatrist. That much was clear.

I'm wondering if it's been long enough to warrant calling my GP's office to ask what's going on, if they referred me or not, and by default whether or not they know if I can get in (and, if I can't, make an appointment with my GP so she can write a prescription for what we'd talked about as being the back-up plan if I don't get into the psychiatrist's before school starts)? Or is waiting this friggin long normal, even with circumstance dictating there is a time restriction?

    Thanks for any assistance

  • Behind the ear tattoo?

I have three tattoos in total. Two hurt like a mo-fo, one was like mild bee stings.

The two that hurt the most were my feet. The 2nd one hurt more, but the 1st one managed to make my leg spasm at one point. The other didn't hurt much at all because, well, it was my upper arm. Lots more fat compared to feet, thicker skin...

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could tell me HOW MUCH IT HURTS to get one done behind the ear? If anyone has had their feet done as well as behind the ear, which would you say hurts more? I want to get something done in the future behind my ear, but it was hard enough getting my feet done. Especially the 2nd time it really felt like he was trying to saw my foot off. I know the pain is short-term and it's a lifetime of awesomeness so don't let pain sway you yadayada I'm just wondering about peoples' experience with behind-the-ear, or if you don't have one what do you know about it? I'm still on the fence about whether or not to do it.

    thanks!

  • Acrylic nails in oven (cooking)?

I’m watching Friends, and I’m on the episode where Monica drops her nail into the quiche cups she makes for her mom’s event (that she’s catering - tis the 3rd episode of season 4). My friend says that because it’s acrylic it would crystallize and ultimately melt in the quiche, and because of this the guests could’ve eaten the quiches without ever knowing.

I’m just wondering if that’s true or if that’s bullshit. We’re sort of arguing about it lol. Thanks for any assistance!

  • What kind of drinks can you make with....?

So my friends and I are hanging out at another friend's place, and he has a lot of alcohol options in his fridge and freezer that he gave us access to. Thing is, we only really know how to make two different kinds of drinks - raindrops ("pornstars") and apple pie shots.

So below I have a list of all the alcohol and other liquids that can act as chasers (I don't know if there's a word for that - pop/soda basically). If you know any types of tasty drinks that can be mixed with what we have, or if we're missing something that can be bought at a gas station (again, pop/soda, but also juice).

    Thanks!

    - Butter ripple schnapps

    - Sourpuss (raspberry and green apple)

    - Bols blue (aka blue curacao)

    - virtually every flavour of Absolut vodka (blame Rupaul's Drag Race advertising...)

    - Smirnoff (regular and vanilla)

    - Carmilk liqueur

    - Alize bleu liqueur (made in France... tastes fruity)

  • Math question - calories in a tbsp of sauce?

I'm just curious about how one would go about this problem; I'm not 100% sure.

So in HALF a cup of spaghetti sauce there's 45 calories. I only use a tablespoon of it.

How would you go about figuring out how many calories are in that amount? My result doesn't really make sense, so just wanted to check it with the more mathematically inclined

  • How to edit a header in Microsoft Word (2010)?

I am an extremely frustrated university student.

I'm trying to do an assignment that uses APA citation. It's for an essay, and as APA says the first page needs a header that is supposed to have "Running head". But because it's a header, each header following has the words "running head". It's only supposed to be on the title page, and I can't seem to properly format it so I can keep "Running head" in page 1's header but remove it from all the consecutive pages (2 onwards). How can I keep "running head" on the first page while simultaneously taking it out of pages 2 and onward?

  • So apparently my dad gets emails of every update I make?

So apparently when my dad friended me on facebook, he started getting emails (to his email account) with each status update I make. The day, the time, the content...

Is there a way that I can stop this, to revert such a setting back to normal (aka such status updates only showing up in news feeds and not being sent elsewhere)? I wasn't aware this was even possible, but of all the people to receive emails of my status updates, I would really prefer to not have my dad be the recepient (especially because I'm a uni student, and he feels the need to comment on everything I do "wrong", of which posting 2am statuses is apparently the top of the list)...

And not 'defriend him'. There is a way to do it, I've seen people do it. I just don't remember how.

    Thanks for any assistance!

  • Industrial/scaffold piercing - easier to get the bar or one at a time?

I've sort of toyed with the idea of getting an industrial/scaffold piercing done, but I hear they are a pain in the rear when it comes to healing (taking up to a year to properly heal, still flaring up at the slightest provocation afterwards, etc)... and even so they don't fully heal? (or, in the least, they get irritated very easily).

from what I gather the bar can cause a lot of movement, and I can sort of see that as causing a problem for healing (making the healing process longer?).

Is that true? And, if it is, would it be easier to get this piercing done as two helix piercings and, once those are healed, connecting it with an industrial/scaffold bar? Or just going right for it by getting it pierced with a bar?

  • Easiest colour to dye hair from (artificial) black?

I don't have dyed black hair yet, but I've been considering it (mainly to keep hair upkeep to a minimum if I move out for university - my hair is naturally really dark brown, so minimal to no roots. I also don't know if this has a major affect this would have on future colour changes from black).

Thing is, I hear it's hard to get out once it's in ("once you go black you never go back" basically). And I'm not the type of person to keep the same hair colour for years on end; I can safely say I'm not going to be having black for more than 5 years in a row (I'd gage around 3, maybe 4 years). I like change; that level of permanence isn't my thing.

So I'd like to know my options for when I decide to step back from black, and ones that don't cost upwards to a thousand dollars to completely get away from, let alone totally destroy my hair in the process.

So I'm just wondering, for future reference, WHAT IS THE EASIEST COLOUR TO DYE TO FROM ARTIFICIAL BLACK?

I hear it's red, but I can't find too many sources on this topic. (if it is red, that's rather vague, too - red as in fire engine red? Red as in ginger? Red as in auburn?) It'd be awesome if someone could inform me of how this can work...

  • Calculating change in mass in potato?

Hi. Quick biology question. Might seem kind of stupid, but I need to know.

I'm doing a lab for bio 12 and I'm not quite sure about how to do part of it.

We're calculating the change of mass in a potato that's been left in hyper, hypo, and isotonic solutions for 24 hours. The initial weight (in grams) is 10.0g.

To calculate the percent change in mass, the equation is:

% change in mass = [change in mass (grams) / initial mass (g)] X 100%

When it comes to the final weight numbers being lower than 10 (i.e., after 24 hour period the weight went from 10.0g to 9.4g), how do you calculate for the percentage? Is it the same as if the weight change is a gain (i.e., initial weight is 10.0g, and the weight after 24 hours is 12.5g), and the percentage recorded is negative? Or am I missing something?

    Thanks

  • Clear retainers in new-ish piercings?

Okay, I just have to ask...

I really want to get a tragus piercing. I have summer employment that starts in May, and they're somewhat ironically very conservative (a waterpark, aka where about 80% of the people that come in are wearing scantly anything and rocking one to multiple tattoos and piercings) - the only piercings employees are allowed are traditional female (specifically female) lobe piercings.

ANYWAYS, so I sort of have a few questions...

    1) Is it possible to get pierced with a clear retainer? (both specifically in the tragus and simply in general)

    2) If not, how long would I have to wait to change said new piercing to a clear retainer? I hear bare minimum 2 weeks but piercers always say like, 3 months at minimum, preferrably when it's 100% healed (which ranges from months to a year, I know)

    3) If it's not a good idea to change such a piercing around 1-2 months after getting it done... would covering it with a band-aid not be a good idea? I'm hearing annoyingly mixed responses about this one (and I know it looks stupid and obvious, but every girl that had a nose stud at this workplace last summer - and this was in the food service section of the park, so honestly is this really foodsafe to begin with? - had a dot flesh-coloured bandaid to cover them, so why can't the same apply to ear piercings?)

I mean, if all else fails, I suppose I can just make it a end-of-work/you-survived-serving-stupid-impatient-sometimes-rude-people-an-entire-summer gift after my last shift come early September, but if it is possible to not wait that long, I'd like to know.

    Thanks :)

  • Dying one's hair black?

Recently I've been debating dying my hair black. Like not dark brown, because that's my natural colour and it's so plain I want to avoid it if possible, but... like, jet black. Black as possible. I wouldn't get it done out of a box (because frankly I don't trust myself or anyone else that isn't a professional, especially with my hair currently being dyed medium blonde and I hear going from blonde to black is quite a chore).

    But I have one concern...

There's that phrase "once you go black you never go back". I've heard this applies to dyed-black hair, that it takes a lot of effort and money to strip it and have it dyed other colours again.

Given how I like to change my hair, I have a problem with this.

Is it true? How hard is it to go from black to any other colour not-super-dark-colour again?

  • Why frogs' heart rates increase in warm weather &decrease in cold?

I'm doing a lab about frogs and their heart rate being affected by the temperature of Ringer's solution...

I can't quite figure out how to explain why the heart rate of a frog increases when it's warm and slows when it's cold. I'm supposed to compare this to the human heart and how it would've reacted if it was under the same temperature of Ringer's solution but I can't compare it if i don't entirely understand why frogs' heart rates increase with warm weather and decrease in the cold.

    Any idea?

  • How does the body establish a pressure gradient for fluid flow?

I'm trying to figure out how to explain the titled question. I know it has to do with contraction and dilation of blood vessels, but is there anything else to it? (like... the heart involved in how much the vessels contract/dilate, right? how exactly, if so?)

    Thanks for any help :)
