  • Why is it that even though we did nothing to give ourselves life, we somehow think our life belongs to us and so easily ignore our Creator?

Our every breath is a gift, yet we go our own way. Why do we seem to think we can function as intended apart from the One who designed us and breathed life into us?

Why would we think ourselves good enough for heaven on our own, without the Spirit of God, when His most important commandment in His Word is to love Him with all our heart, mind and soul?

And why would we ignore our Father God’s amazing love and grace towards us in sending His beloved Son Jesus to save us from sin, reconcile us back to Himself and give us His Spirit?Isaiah 53 But he was pierced for our transgressions,    he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment that brought us peace was on him,    and by his wounds we are healed.6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,    each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him    the iniquity of us all.

How can we not see knowing Him is everything - that He is eternal life?

  • Have you seen His love for you?

Did you realise you were the joy set before Jesus that he endured the cross? That it was the thought of you made whole and united to him that kept him there?

When he stopped Peter from defending him with a sword at his arrest, Jesus said he could call 12 legions of angels and they would come immediately. He is the Lord of the army of heaven, the King of the universe. Will you take a moment to dwell on the strength of Jesus’ love for you?

At any time, he could have said enough’s enough

    - when he was falsely accused

    - when he was beaten, mocked and spat on

    - when the Roman whips tore his flesh to the bone and he was waiting for the next blow, or the next, or the next...

    - when the crown of thorns put on him was bashed into his head with rods

    - when the hammer was raised to drive the nails through his feet and hands.

What love is this? He endured it all because he is love and he wants you. He prayed, Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

Can you see His love for you? May God bless the eyes of your heart that you may see.

  • Is dwenjang in kimchi a good idea?

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried using dwenjang when they are making kimchi. I don't have any fish sauce and I was thinking of using soy sauce, but then wondered if dwenjang would work. I don't have sweet rice flour either so I thought dwenjang might give the kimchi sauce a similar pasty consistency and an interesting flavour. What do you think?

  • Athletes foot or calluses?

My husband has thick calluses on almost the entire soles of his feet - they've been like that for years. I read that there is a type of athlete's foot called 'moccasin', and I was wondering if it could be from that since some of his toe nails also look like they've got a fungal infection - or if it is just calluses from pressure - because he's got pretty flat feet. Does anyone know if the moccasin tinea can cause calluses but not be itchy? (he won't go to the doctor) thanks

  • Which of these jobs would be more enjoyable?

My daughter some advice - she would like to be either an artist, a pet groomer, a puppy trainer or a pet shop manager. Does anyone do one of these jobs and can tell us if you like it?

  • Should I study full time or part time - Bachelor ECE?

Advice please! I am going to enrol to study at Auckland Uni extramurally. I have a daughter in her second year of primary school and I want to balance family and study time. The problem is that I haven't done any uni courses before and I don't really know how much work is involved. I'm thinking of enrolling in 3 courses per semester (part time is normally 2 courses and full time is 4). If anyone has done a Bachelor Ed ECE, I'd really appreciate some advice about what you think a mum could handle while still having time for family.

  • Is it a good idea to compromise with your kids?

I read somewhere that if you and your child don't agree on something it is a good idea to ask them to come up with possible compromises until you both agree. It said that it teaches kids to problem solve and learn how to resolve conflict with mutual respect. This idea makes sense to me, however I wonder whether this is giving kids too much power for their age.

  • Is it OK to eat spinach from a plant that has gone to seed?

It was already in the garden so I don't know how long it has been there but it has a really thick stem, and small ones were growing out of it. It went to seed, but I broke off most of the stems with seed heads. Now new spinach leaves have started to grow from the main stem. Would they be alright to eat?

  • Is it OK to eat an under-ripe pumpkin?

I've grown some pumpkins (never tried before) and most of them seem fine apart from the leaves getting a mould on them. But one of them stopped growing - I think I damaged the stem by mistake and it shrivelled up.

It has a dark green skin on the outside and is half the size of the other ones. The flesh looks pretty good though - apart from being a bit paler and the seeds are have a greenish tinge.

Does anyone know if we would we get sick if we cooked it and ate it? Would it taste horrible?

  • How can I teach my daughter games can be fun even if she loses?

She's just 4 and she usually quits a game if it looks like she is losing a few minutes after she starts playing...even if I tell her she still has a chance of winning...and she often gets really upset if she plays the whole game and then loses. I wonder if it is just a phase...

  • What can I wear with cream linen pants to dress them up?

They are kind of hipsters with a drawstring waist and the only cap I have to wear with them is a military style and colour cap for my sisters beach wedding. What colour and style top or accessories do you recommend?
