Using Rydberg constant to calculate ionisation energy?
I'm a bit confused I have to calculate the ionisation energy of hydrogen using the Rydberg constant for hydrogen which is 109373 cm-1. How do I then use this value to calculate Hydrogens ionisation energy which should be around 1312kJmol-1?

Chemistry1 decade agoCalculating percentage by mass of an unknown compound?
Here's the question:
Routine analysis for the determination of C,H and N by mass involves burning the substance to produce CO2, H2O and NOx. The gas stream is reduced to convert NOx to N2.
0.1156g of an unknown compound is combusted to give 0.1638g of CO2, 0.1676g of H20 and 0.05215g N2.
Calculate the percentage by mass of C,H and N in the unknown compound.

1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoImpact crater experiment graph help?
I have done an impact crater experiment at school where I have increased the height a ball is dropped from, measuring both diameter and depth of the crater formed (where ball is a constant mass).
I have also measured diameter and depth when the height is kept constant and the mass is changed.
I have plenty of raw data but I'm having touble with what to do next.
What graphs should I plot with my raw data?
Should I do height against diameter/depth
or mass against diamater/depth
ot should I be plotting graphs which involve the velocity or kinetic energy?
I'm completely stuck on the grpahs please help!

2 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoCan you help me find the right career for me?
I'm going to uni next year so I have to start thinking about what I want to do and I have absolutely no idea :[
The subjects I enjoy are extremely varied, I'm doing chemistry biology geography and art (I love music too ^_^).
I love all of them, especially chemistry and art.
Is there any career which can combine them or you think I would enjoy based on my subjects so I can research it further?
Please help.

2 AnswersMakeup1 decade agoAfter being told I'd get £140 I got £50 what do I do?
I was supposed to be going on a college trip and paid the deposit of £150 for it. However I had to drop out as my parents had to borrow money for my sister who is in uni. I couldn't afford the trip so I spoke to the man in charge and explained it to him and he told me not to worry and there would be a name change fee of £10 so I'd get back £140 I was fine with this.
However today I got back a cheque for £50 as the fee is apparently £100!!
I completely appreciate that the fee is expensive but surely this is completely unfair when I was told he had checked it and it was only £10
Is there anything I can do?

17 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHas someone had a similar experience?
I know that these are "normal" for when you have your period but it isn't normal for me and it seems like a lot to happen all at once. So here's whats happened...
Started my period on Sunday
since then have been having very very bad stomach cramps (when normally I don't have any)
I'm in pain with my back, which is hurting mostly down the left side and its killing me! (I have only ever had back pain once when I had a chest infection)
My boobs have gone up a cup size (they normally get slightly bigger but its usually a week before and it goes by the time i start, this time they have not got smaller yet)
When I have gone to the toilet is I have had a stinging sensation towards the end and a few seconds after I urinate
Is this really all nnormalbecause I have never had all this before :(
I am going to see a doctor on monday I am just seeing if anyone has a clue whats going on before I go just for peace of mind. Thanks.

I missed a lot of maths this year as I was put into the class late and at the moment the work is totally above me can someone please show me how to get the answer.
Solve the simultaneous equations
x-3y+1=0
x(2)-3xy+y(2)=11
I know the answer is supposed to be x=-7, y=2
but I could do with being shown how to get there
I didn't know how to do a squared sign so i have just put (2)
