  • Baby on the way and battling my family over my dogs!?

When i got pregnant I got started right away evaluating my 4 dogs and 2 just couldn't stay due to safety. I had a Chow mix that was very child aggressive and hes was placed into a child free home and my 12 year old beagle who had a nasty habit of stating fights with all the dogs in the house as she went to a friend where shes the only dog. I no have 2 pits they have passed with flying colors! They both are very baby friendly a good friend had 3 small children who bounce, pull, poke and prod at my dogs and they just eat it up with kisses all around. My family has this hair brain idea that my dogs will EAT my baby. My mom and I have both tried and tried to get them to back down form this but they cant get passed the media of this "dangerous" breed. the stories of pit puppies sucking the toes off of kids and all that. My dogs are far passed the sucking stage. Has any one else fought this battle?

Any advice to reassure them would be helpful. I have hit the point of ignoring them but they still email these news posts of pitts killing people!!!

  • Weird Dream I have had several times?

I have had this dream several times always 2 times a night at least 2 time a week .

I an running down a scary warehouse corridor to get to this screaming child. When I got to the room a man in a black mask was useing a device that looked like a plunger with a needle in the middle only more medical. He was sucking a yolky substance out of the child and it was killing the child I saved the kid then woke up. When i went back to sleep I had the same dream but the child was much older I would say about 2 in the first one and about 7 in the second.

I dont know if this matters but the kid was a strawberry blond with blue eyes I am a brunette with brown eyes any thoughts would be help.

  • Mens horses VS womens horses?

I posted a question about my filly being mean to men, truth be told shes not really fond of anyone in my house but me and gets nasty with all people in the house but me. I dont have any problems with her like they do she doesnt pinn her ears bit or any of that wheni work with her i have he utmost respect but othere well not so much.

I havent ever had a horse that was that way I was wondering if any one else has had a horse that didnt like men or dodnt like women . I have had horses my entire life but never under 2 ( i always get stuck with un broke 2 year olds) this is my first baby(shes about 14 to 18 months) so I am tryin to do this right i have worked with horses that didnt like men but never to this degree .

  • Mean Filly problems?

I have a young filly and shes really sweet to me i call her she comes all that baby cute stuff she is really obedient, But there is one thing she doensnt like my brother or any other male for that fact. She was a freebee and wild as a march hare when i got her a year ago.

I am pretty much the only one that has handled her i am in a non horsey house hold. My brother and i were walking her and just all of the sudden she took out after him ears pinned teeth bared. Ever since that day she has been that way to him and every male. We had some freinds out to cut wood in the pasture and i had to catch her because she was running at them, kicking , and strikeing.

To my knowledge no one has done anything bad to her.

I was looking for some insite to this behavior. It hasnt been really a problem or anything like that because we know of this problem and manage it accordingly.

Does anyone know what may have caused this or is it just her quirk one of many !!!

  • Horse safe tree repair!?

I have 3 horses that I keep on a dry lot in the winter but they have expressed there discontent by eating the bark off of one of the large trees in the lot. Is there something that i can put on the tree to save the tree and not hurt the horses if they get into it. the horses got their way and are now out in the large field so its unlikely that this will happen again.

  • On the Fence on a touchy subject wanting other horse peoples oppinions on this.?

The problem i have is with the issue of the slaughter of American horses for meat. I AM NOT WANTING A RIOT!!!!

Heres my issue we are butchering over 100,000 horses per year for over seas sale. We dont eat horses here. The transportation conditions are deplorable. They are starved beaten abused i really dont have to go on about that.

Now heres where i am on the fence we want to stop killing these horses. No where has anyone stoped to see what will happen if we stop. If we stop there are over 100,000 horses that have no homes. Theres a hay shortage whos going to feed them. The PMU farms are still produceing large number s of horses the racing industry is still produceing large amounts of horses. Backyard breeders are producing large numbers of horses of all those horses how many really have any kind of purpose?

Horse prices are falling. Hay prices are riseing.

Are we makeing it worse for the horses?

If we stop here wont they just make longer trips to mexico and Canada?

  • Bad mommy dog?

I have a dog that recently had pups bout a week and a half ago. She has a box in the house but we let her some and go as she pleases but it seems like she is spending alot of time away from them. Often she will be outside an we have to pick up a pup and get it to make some noise to get her to come inside and check on them or get her in for the night. The pups arent really upset when shes gone but shes not even protective like she used to be she would growl and even lunge at the other dogs when they got close and now she doesnt really even care if my other dog goes into the cage with them and takes care of them cleaning them up and cuddling with them. Its not that shes tired beacuse she goes out and is always running around the yard and playing with the other dogs . And shes on a high quality puppy chow while she nurses

Is this normal is she a bad mom or just really relaxed now ?

Whats a resonable amount of time for her to be away?

  • Boyfriend VS dog?

Ok heres my problem I have 2 dogs a beagle and a pittie now the issue has always been the same. The men that i date are jealous of my dogs. I have heard the words too mant times to count "iF YOU PAID AS MUCH ATTENTION TO ME AS YOU DID TO THOSE DA*N DOGS WE WOULDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS"

Recently my fiance called the whole thing off when i brought home the pittie . This has brought me to a stand still in dating i just dont want to have to deal with it any more I know that i treat my dogs very well but i also know that they are just dogs.

Am i dating really insecure men or is it something more.

I have never put my dog before any of them but at the same time i refuse to make them sleep outside or keep them off of the furniture and other little stupid things like that if its their house I will keep them off of the furniture but my house No they come and go as they please why do they feel the need to control in my home too.

Am i setting my self up to fail ?

  • Vet bill limits?

My mom have a new B/F and he says that his limit for the vet is $45. I have talked to other people that have these kinds of limits.( i dont happen to be one ) My uncle says $200 is his limit if it will cost more than that the animal just needs put down. To me $45 isnt enough that doesnt even cover a spay or neuter.

Do any of you have these kinds of limits for your horses or other pets? ( horse people always have tons of animals)

If you dont mind saying whats your limit dog or cat VS horse

Do you think that 45 is a realistic figure in this day and age where the apointment fee is 20n right off the top?

  • Nail Bitter?

My pittie bites her nails. Not to the quick or anything like that but she does keep them short. Only the back nails and she even now shes just nibbling away at them. It doesnt concern me as a danger thing but that its irritating. She has all kinds of rawhide chewwies and what not but prefers to chew those little piggies.

Does may one have an idea on why she does this ?

Would putting the polish for people that bite their nails help ?

Is there a cream or something i can get to remove them I just found a new one clear up by his ear. Hes 3 is it an age thing and they will go away or do i need to have vet out to have them removed. I have never had a horse get these so i am really quite curious. If the vet has to remove them will they have to put him out because hes allergic to anesthetic and cant be put under.
