I'm writing a short story for my creative writing class, can someone give me their opinion on the first paragraph please? Thanks a ton!

The smell of smoke stung my nose. The unpleasant sensation of burns and blisters enveloped my body as I lay on the dirt plastered floor. I moved my hand instinctively toward my bulging stomach, holding it there until I felt the kick of my unborn child. I raised my head slowly, waiting a moment to open my eyes. When I reluctantly did so, I was terrified at the scene before me. Bodies lay scattered around me, their faces blackened with soot and blood. Singed, flame-eaten curtains draped the wooden stadium seating as the moonlight shone eerily through tears in the red and white striped tent. I rose quickly, cradling my belly tenderly.

What was the significance of Italy in the Middle Ages/Renaissance and how did it change?

I'm just wondering, because one of my friends is like, 95. And another one of my friends is 120.

And they're the same height.

What would be the ideal height for a 14 year old girl, who's 5'4.

My best freind lives about 2 hours away, and i havent seen her since march. i miss her terribly, and she was in my dream last night. but the thing is, it was a horrible dream.

I dreamed she died.

BUt the thing is, im not mad at her or anything. In my dream, i cried everyday after her death, and even attempted to kill myself... and i woke up crying bc it upsetted me so much.

what does this dream mean?!

My mom and sister both have thier own pets, but i dont. I had hamsters in like 5th grade but thats really it. My mom has a dog and my sister has a cat, and then theres me. My cat doesnt like other cats so thats out of the question, my dog hates other dogs, and my mom wont let me get a bird. I'm 14 and out a lot. What's the perfect pet for me?

I don'twant to take vocal lessons, but i CANNOT hit alow note. Any excercises that can improve my scales? Thanks a lot!

I asked a similar question this morning on how to cope with missing my friends. I've been crying myself to sleep lately, like i used to when i hated my life. But the thing is, i don't hate my life. There are two things i dont like about it. One: parents arguing and crap. 2: I don't get to see some of my friends who i am extremely close to and feel like crap without. Please please please. How do i keep from crying myself to sleep? I've even watched tv to get it off of my mind but it doesnt work.

Ok, so last summer i went to summer camp and met some of the best people i have ever met. They're amazing and understand me completely, the only thing is, i miss them like crazy now. I only see them once a month. Before i go to se them, im giidy and stuff, and then after wards for a week or so. But then i get all upset and i miss them more than ever. Thursday night was the first time i'd cried myself to sleep in like, 3 weeks because i missed the m so much. I talk to them every day, but thy live an hour-an hour and a half away. We're only freshmen and eighth graders, so its kinda hard to get to them because we all have big families and we cant get our parents to get us everywhere sometimes. They all live in different towns so it's hard. Please help me deal with this. How do i get my mind off of them? I know to hang out with my friends from home, vut i always think about them. Help!

My 15 year old cat Sammy seems really sick. She's been peeing all over the floor for about 3 weeks now. She was throwing up today. She can't jump onto my bed. Her eyes look kind of glazed over and red.

Im 14 and i know how to cook.

I'm playing with my neighbors hair and wheneveer i stroke the brush through it she says ow.

I wanted to know if it was normal that barely touching her hair hurts her head. I thought she just doesn't brush her hair enough or that her brush isn't a good one.

She uses a soft bristle brush.

Please help!
