I want to sell my Sony Vaio and reset it to factory settings.

It doesn't have a CD drive, nor do I have an external one.

Can someone tell me in easy steps how to clean up my computer before I sell it second-hand?

The Sony Vaio booklet talks about a computer recovery option build-in. I don't understand if this is a self-resetting type of thing or if I need to do stuff for it. I can't make recovery discs obviously, since I don't have a CD drive.

I tried the alt + F10 trick, but that doesn't do anything.

I have asked this question multiple times, but the answers are not clear for a non-computer skilled person. Please if you can help me by explaining clearly what I can do it would be a great help.

I'm selling my Sony Vaio VPCY11SE1 and would like to make sure it is clean and back to factory settings. Now I already removed my own programs and files. But I'd like to make sure everything is gone and the system runs well.

Alt+f10 didn't work.

The booklet I got with the Vaio explains stuff about making a recovery disc. However, I do not have a disc drive..?

I don't have good knowledge of how this works so please if someone could explain or link to a clear tutorial. Simply telling me to format the computer doesn't mean anything to me..

Basically what I want is to give the buyer a laptop that is clear of clutter and has he operating system working well.

I own a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100, which I am now selling because I just bought a new laptop. However, before I sell it I want to clean it up an make sure it runs smooth. I don't have a recovery cd, because I bought this laptop secondhand too. How can I clean up my files and make the laptop run faster again?
