Hi, I'm Rex. A rather tall 89 lb Black and Rust male Doberman, I am going to turn 6 this spring so I feel like I'm going through a Mid life crisis but my owner makes me feel like a young pup all the time. During the day my person is away at work but I have access to a dog door which I love. Often if you don't see me in the house on the bed , you can catch me outside laying in the grass catching some rays. I graduated at the top of my class from obedience school but I love to please my person so I am quite behaved at home. My person gives me plenty of time outdoors, we go hiking at the river trail Every day and in the summer we get to swimming. One of my best tricks is catching bubbles !!!! My sister is a 25 year old African Grey Parrot, which we have learned to live with, I would just rather her stay in her cage !!!

  • Canine Cushing's Disease ? ?

Does anyone out there have experience with Cushing's disease? I have a vet visit and will ask them to run full CBC, UA and chem panel but so far the symptoms my 6 year old Male Doberman is exhibiting include: increased water consumption, hunger, lethargy = can sleep all day until it's time for his walk, recent hesitancy with ambulating as if his rear was painful, hair loss on sides of abdomen and flank which I initially attributed to allergies and secondary skin infections. Any ideas ?

  • Average Dog Training Consultation costs in N. California ?

I know this is a broad question, but I am getting prices on a Dog behavior consult for my dog. One trainer is offering a 2 hour initial consultation for $125.00 in a private setting at my home. My dog is pretty well behaved, my big issue is fear based dog agression which probably stems from his fear as well as my anxiety. Does this sound like a fair and reasonable price to you ?

  • Acral Lick Granuloma?

I have a 6 year old, neutered Male Doberman. I have never considered him to be an anxious or obessesive compulsive dog, but a sensitve dog- but many Dobermans are. But he has devolped an Acral Lick Granuloma on his front paw. Any advice ? I've resorted to using an E collar and wrapping it up with Pet wrap but he is depressed and miserable w/ the E collar on. Any advice to remedy this before it become a habit and the affected area gets bigger? Thanks.
