  • Upgrade from XP to Windows 7, without reformatting hard drive?

    I'm not willing to lose everything, especially those programs that I may or may not have installation disks for... I'm wondering if I could buy a copy of Vista, install that first, and THEN upgrade to Windows 7? Anyone have any experience doing that?

    If so, which version of Vista would you recommend? And if I were to buy one on ebay, would I even need to "activate" it before installing 7? (I always worry about buying used software, no matter what they guarantee.)
