  • Inaccurate result when using NORM.DIST in Excel?

I'm facing this problem about normal distribution. Here are the information: mean=5.125, deviation=0.078, X value=4.995. When using normal distribution, the correspondent z value is z=-1.67. By using NORM.DIST function in MS Excel, the probability obtained is 0.0478. But when using Z score table, the result obtained is 0.0475. This result is the same obtain when using a TI-84 calculator. Therefore the function NORM.DIST does not provide a correct result.

Can anyone explain this difference in the results?

Please understand that the probability should be given or rounded to four decimals. Therefore, 0.0475 is very different than 0.0478.

  • How do I use the Form 1098-T on my tax return?

I know that others had asked this question, but none of the answers gives me direction about how I should handle my case.

I received a Form 1098-T from my school as document to use (maybe) for my tax return. I will filled under status Join return. I made $29K on my W-2. On the 1098-T, the Box-2 is empty, but in the Box-1, there is $1500, while in Box-5 there is $5K for scholarship.

    Here are my questions:

    1. Do I have to use this form while filing my tax return? The school had sent a copy to IRS already.

    2. When I file, do I report the amount paid $1500 as amount paid or the difference between $5000 and $1500 which is $3500?

    3. I am using Turbo Tax, and it is considering the $3500 as taxable income and adding it to my $29K. I did not received any amount/reimbursement for $3500, but roughly about $1600 which I used for other expenses related to my education. I've also paid out of my pocket around $850 to save my classes when the financial aid was not available to pay for my courses.

  • How to know the faulty part on this Sharp Aquos LC60C46U?

    Hi,

I need to find the service or repair manual for TV Sharp Aquos LC60C46U which might help me to repair my TV. I can replace parts my self. I want to do it that way because I can get the parts very very cheap. My only problem is that I can't determine which part is faulty. The pictures look fuzzy, blurry as you can see them here:

For information, the TV is out of warranty and I don't have enough money to pay for the service repair. The only thing I need is the service / repair manual; not the TV user manual please.

    Thanks for your help.
