  • Bucking at Cruising Speeds?

My 2002 Chevy Blazer has 51000 miles. I drove it 60 miles *all highway* running errands today. I parked at home for about an hour, then went to work, which is about 10 miles away, again, 55mph state highway. About 5 miles into the trip, I noticed that my truck bucked, but the RPM's stayed the same, while in cruise control mode. I passed it off as a bad bump, but then it happened three more times, in quick succession. No check-engine light, and it was fine on the way home. The car just got an oil change / tune-up about 1000 miles ago. I run 89 grade gas w/ marvel mystery oil in every fuel-up. I had replaced the fuel filter twice in my old blazer, at 700/pop, so preventative maintenance is priority there. My guesses are either the tranny slipping, or a bad knock sensor *4X4 / AWD*. Any Ideas?

  • Antifreeze Leak Fun?

I drive a 98' Chevy Blazer, w/ the W-V6 engine. I was driving to work one day, and I took the time to notice that my car was rolling over to 153,000 miles. Just out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that I was running at 260*F. I pulled into the next parking lot, and killed the engine. I turned the key, just to see if it was a computer error. Nope, still red lining the thermo. I popped the hood, to see a cloud of white smoke, smelling of antifreeze and plastic. I ended up toping off my antifreeze (1.5 gallons), and continuing on to work. I heard a bubbling sound, so I pulled over, and cautiously opened my hood again. The antifreeze was bubbling out of the top of my engine, next to where my air intake goes into the motor. I am afraid to go to my dealer, and I cannot afford anymore Dexcool for my car *about a gallon per 15 mile trip at $12/gallon*. Any suggestions? Is it worth fixing?
