  • Passover/Seder issues (dinner~~ceremony)?

My family is Jewish. They are having a (reform) seder. I have been informed that if I do not appear for <and participate!> in the 90 minute ceremony preceding the dinner, I may NOT eat with my family AND my husband, child and I are not welcome to come visit that night.

We are non~believers, but recognize the importance of family, and want our 6yr old to spend time with his cousins. I cannot stand the idea of praising a deity I don't believe in for things that supposedly happened so long ago and apparently are fabricated. It is shocking that if we don't "do" the seder, we can't eat and enjoy ourselves with extended family!

I've put forward the idea that Jews have struggled for freedom and surely this is one way to practice it. But the WHOLE 30plus group disagrees. So...? Opinions, please.

--Thoughts from people who have attended seders are MOST welcome!! This is a very big issue in my family, and my spouse and I are hurt that if we don't pray, we are not invited!

  • My CT scan shows bleeding in the colon, is that why they are doing a colonoscopy, why an endoscopy also?

How worried should I be? Is there a concern of cancer or something else serious. Is anemia an issue. Blood tests show that.

  • Do cloistered contemplative nuns that wear habits ever wear "regular" clothes in their monastery/convent?

I'm curious about women like the Poor Clares or Carmelites/Trappestines. The ones who don't ever leave their enclosure, work/live forever in their community. Obviously, I don't mean if they are sick, or going to bed.
