  • The maximum 3 endorsement cap by BCCI is illegal?

BCCI is inviting further trouble for itself legally. The reported "maximum" three endorsements per player is unconstitutional and illegal. It is very similar to bonded labour. How can a board prevent someone from earning money legally? Moreover, even the restrictions that the board places on talking to the media is illegal - a thorough violation of freedom of speech. It's matter of time when a spate of cases are filed against the BCCI. Drag these clowns to court now.

And I don't understand what is restricted endorsements going to achieve. If endorsements affect selection policy, it brings out a simple fact: Either the selectors are corrupt or the captain is (Or both). So, to sort the problem, bring in honest men. How can snatch someone of his livelihood just because the selectors are bunch of thieves?

  • Even if India tops Group B, it still remains in 2nd place. Why?

It is a strange scenario in world cup scheduling. Even if India were to win all their matches in Group B, it would not "top" the group. They will be given a "B2" status - making them the second team in the group. This would decide their schedule of matches in their Super 8 stage. I wonder why this strange decision has been made?

Explanation: India wins all its group matches. SL wins all but against India. But still SL will top the group and India will be second. Wonder why?

Just 43 wickets at 47.19. That's one record he would have liked to improve.

  • Which Indian cricketer has the highest ODI batting average?

Which Indian cricketer has played over 80 One-day Internationals and has a batting average of 46 - an average that is better than Tendulkar, Dhoni, Ganguly and Dravid. (Min. Qualification: 20 innings)

Remember, please don't offer answers as "nobody has an ODI batting average better than Tendulkar". There must be someone who has a better average.

  • What is the difference between a wicket, a wicket and a wicket?

Cricket terminology does confuse me a lot. Consider this:

    1. When a bowler gets a batsman out, he gets a "wicket"

    2. When the pitch has a lot of pace and bounce, it's called a "fast wicket"

    3. When a fielder throws down the stumps with the ball, it is said that he has "broken the wicket"

So what on earth is a wicket? To complify things further, the 22-yard area between the two set of stumps is called the "wicket", the "pitch" and the "Track".

So if three things have the same term, and the same thing has three different terms, how are novices like me going to understand the game? So who or what is responsible for the origin of this wicket-wicket-wicket confusion?

  • Tendulkar and Dravid to retire from the game. Breaking News.?

A friend of mine, close to one of the BCCI bigwigs family tells me this: There is an interesting solution being worked out by the crafty politicians in the BCCI. This is in wake of the increasing criticism by the TV media and politicians. Tendulkar and Dravid would immediately retire from International cricket. A statement would blame both Members of Parliament and the Media for cutting short their careers. They would go on to say that their cricketing achivements have been far greater than what politicians have achieved in administration in 50 years. (The term used would be "politicians" to escape a privilege motion). There would be attacks on specific news channels including Aaj Tak. The key idea is to do this immediately after the ODI series. Tendulkar would say - he would not play the world cup, come what may.

Once that realisation comes, that these two won't play the WC, the ire will be turned against politicians and the media - forcing them to shut up.

  • Gillespie dropped after a double-hundred. Any other instances?

Jason Gillespie has been dropped after he scored a double-hundred in Australia's last appearance. Is this a first? Anyone recall a player being dropped after a very good "record-book" performance? I belive Naraendra Hirwani of India never played again, in spite of the fact that he picked 6 wickets in an innings in his last appearance.

  • Stumping of a wide ball...?

It's the last wicket pair in an ODI. 1 run to win. Bowler bowls one down the leg side, batsman is down the pitch. Wicketkeeper collects the ball and stumps him, appeals. The square leg umpire rules the batsman out stumped. The main umpire says its a wide ball. What's the decision of the match? Is it a tie? Or does the batting team win?

Is it one of the rare occasions when the chasing team is all-out, but still wins the match?
