  • Jarryd Hayne threatens to leave Parra?

    http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/jarryd-...

He's being paid $500K per season based on 9-10 good games at the end of last year. Now those kicks that were bouncing at right angles into his arms are going out on the full. He was happy to take the money and the accolades when things were going well now he must accept the brickbats when they are not. The guy is a show pony and a sook. When the going gets tough Jarryd takes a walk. Thoughts..........

  • Gasnier to play for peanuts?

It has been reported in the Daily Telegraph that Mark Gasnier will play the rest of the season with the Dragons for $50K plus match payments of $4K so that they can fit him into the salary cap before a contract upgrade over the next 2 seasons.

    http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/mark-ga...

How is this any different to the Melbourne Storm wanting to reduce their player payments to get their team under the cap? Seems like double standards to me. Thoughts.........

  • Josh Dugan - An origin bolter?

Should Josh Dugan be considered for the fullback spot in origin? He's in the best form of any of the NSW fullbacks and he has the ability to turn a game on its head. The only other serious contenders are Hayne & Gidley. Hayne is in only average form at the moment and Gidley is a bench player at best at Origin level. Thoughts...........

  • How responsible are the Knights as a club for their current situation?

I know that Wicks and Houston are both grown men and responsible for their own actions but they don't or didn't operate in a vacuum and Wicks in particular was pretty blatant about what he was doing. He was living the lifestyle and it was obvious to many a long time before he was arrested that he was up to no good hence the detailed Police case against him. That being the case why wasn't it obvious to the Knights?

It appears that they chose to ignore the problem as they did with Andrew Johns and are now suffering the consequences. 2 players charged with being drug dealers (one of the worst crimes imaginable for people in their position) and maybe more to follow. Drug testing players is only part of the solution and it wont tell you who the dealers are. I think the Knights have let their fans and sponsors down again with their inaction. What do you think?

  • Showers are forcast for Saturday & Sunday in Sydney?

Who benefits more from a wet surface Parramatta or the Storm? I think it will be an advantage to the Storm because they are used to the wet in Melbourne and their structured play is more adaptable to the wet. Thoughts...........

  • How will Brett Stewarts ongoing dramas effect Manly in 2010?

His sexual assault case moves on to committal proceedings on the 4 February, 2010 with his Barrister Clive Stern SC admitting there was a 'prima facie case' against Stewart based on the allegations. This almost guarantees a trial to be held probably in April or May 2010. How is this going to effect, if at all, Manly & Stewart's preparation for the 2010 season? Thoughts.........

  • How can St George improve for the 2010 season?

They lost 5 out of their last 6 games and their attack consists of either a high kick or get the ball to Morris. They didn't seem to be able to lift when it was required. I think they need someone in the halves who can control a match and direct the team around the field, like say Kimmorley. I thought Soward was poor again last night and is pretty much a one trick pony. He is also a liability in defence. Would someone like Kimmorley fix the Dragons? Thoughts.....................

  • Has Slater done enough to keep his Test spot?

He really stepped up when it counted last night and showed just what he can do. Is it enough to see him named as the Australian fullback ( he is the incumbent ) or will Hayne get the job? Do you think Hayne will step up against St George like Slater did against Manly?

  • Does this surprise you heading into the finals?

The top 4 attacking teams are:

    1. Bulldogs

    2. Souths

    3. Cowboys

    4. Tigers

    Top 4 defensive teams are:

    1. St George

    2. Storm

    3. Bulldogs

    4. Titans

The 4 worst defensive teams are:

    1. Roosters

    2. Broncos

    3. Penrith

    4. Sharks

    Worst 4 attacking teams are:

    1. Sharks

    2. Roosters

    3. Warriors

    4. Knights

Bulldogs are the only team to make top 4 in both attack and defence (no surprise) but I was surprised that the Storm are 2nd in defence and that the Broncos have the 2nd worst defence in the league.

  • Who is the worst defender Thurston or Soward?

They both have similar tackling styles and are both considered to be little more than speed bumps. Thoughts?

  • Jamie Soward what happened?

The question has been asked if Soward should play for Australia, well tonights game against Canberra gave us the answer - No Way. When the tough got going tonight he went missing. Catch and pass all night, no creativity, no leadership, no good under pressure. Thoughts..............

  • Is Brett Lee's Test Career Over?

He won't get a game in this current ashes series and he has been almost constantly injured for the last 2-3 years. Will they ever pick him again? I think he's a shot duck. What do you think?

  • Will the Knights make the top 8?

They have only won 3 games since round 10 + 2 byes and they have to face Parramatta, Storm, Cowboys, Canberra at home and Penrith in the run into the finals. On current form they will be flat out winning any of those matches. What do you think??

**Please no abuse from the one eyed Knights fans, it's just a question not a personal attack on you or your team........

  • Is the Origin concept Dead?

Queensland have won 4 series in a row with little or no resistance from NSW. Selectors who couldn't organise a r**t in a brothel let alone pick a football team. All the things that made Origin special gone from the game like massive one on one hits, spectacular trys, mad aggression and of course the occasional punch up.

The last 2 games especially have been pretty ordinary. Is it worth continuing or has it run it's course. I know if I had paid to go to the game last night I would be pretty pi**ed off.

  • Should Rugby League have a bonus points system?

To give something to teams that fight out a close game or entertain the crowd with a lot of tries how about:

    3 points for a win

1 point for 4 tries or more

    2 points for 8+ tries

1 point for a result within 6 points or less

Under this system Wests Tigers would have received 6 bonus points for their last 3 games, Penrith last night would have received 2 and a crap team like the Roosters get nothing. It would give teams more incentive to play attacking football. What do you think?

  • Get ready for the Central Coast Bears?

After this today in the Daily Telegraph (the propaganda arm of the NRL) the Central Coast Bears could get a start as early as next season.

    http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,2204...

The NRL need 16 teams to fulfill their 8 games per week broadcast deal and with the Sharks on the brink of oblivion the Bears seem to be a natural fit. What do you think?

    6 AnswersRugby League1 decade ago
  • The Sharks are toast but was it planned?

We all know that the NRL think there are too many teams in Sydney and that they want a team on the Central Coast. We also know that the Daily Telegraph is the propaganda arm of the NRL.

When the Greg Bird incident broke it was in the Daily Telegraph every day for over 2 weeks and they really whipped up a negative vibe for the Sharks and their sponsors. Same thing with the Matt Johns saga, front page coverage that just went on and on and on. More negative sentiment against the Sharks and more pressure on their sponsors. Now we have the assault allegations against Tony Zappia from 10 months ago and talk of sex toys being distributed to the players. The sharks sponsors can't get away from the club quick enough. Contrast all this with the response to the sexual assault charges laid against Brett Stewart. It hardly rated a mention and Stewart hasn't been pursued by the press like Greg Bird was prior to his trial. Neither has the Manly Club

I know the Sharks have been their own worst enemies but these things always seen to surface just as they look to be getting on top of their problems and once they are out there true or not they can't be taken back.

Do you think it has been a conspiracy to get rid of the Sharks or just really, really, really bad luck and stupidity? Surely they can't be the only club with skeletons in their closet?
