  • why is VICTORIA, the AFL and Australia's premier football state ?

After another draft, the Vics provide 41 drafted players . SA 13, WA 12, Tas 2, NSW,QLD ,and NT none ! When i refer to the AFL game as the best in the world , i have to wonder now about that little bit of ground we call Victoria, the smallest state in the country, but the most prolific producer of AFL players. Why can't other states develop and produce players ?

  • Who will be the most successful 1st year coach in 2012 ?

Given Chris Scott, first year coach and a flag, wins the 2011 award, who will it be in 2012. The contenders being NEW FIRST TIME COACH'S, Sheedy and Lyon being recycled are not included, in this poll. The candidates are, Sanderson (Adelaide), Buckley (Collingwood), Neeld (Melbourne) Watters ( StKilda) and McCartney Bulldogs. On ladder position at the end of 2012, their teams will finish between 1-18 ,but on a 1 to 5 basis,in what order will these 5 coach's finish ?

  • Could the Cats be in Trouble?

While all appears cosy and comforting at the catery, they could well be in a little trouble. Geelong struggled to get on the board in the first quarter before 2 questionable frees assisted Menzel, now finished for the year, slot 2 goals. The Cats current style of long bombs to the forward 50 is a ploy often used by tired aging teams, to save on work rate, so too is the constant back chatting of umpires, showing weakness. While Hawkins currently performs with a rocket, to keep his place ahead of Mooney, when all is exploited in coming games, the question might collectively be, will they have the "legs" for a plan B. On supercoach stats the Hawks won the game by 144 points, 1724 to 1580, another indicator some older cats are dragging the chain. The Hawks inaccuracy from set shots, saved the Cats from playing catch up footy in ordinary conditions. The Hawks still had more scoring shots in the game at 3/4 time, until the "Buddy" Franklin injury in the final quarter simply broke their spirit.

  • Dale Thomas offered 2 weeks for a perfect hip & shoulder bump ?

You can't tackle and you cant bump any longer, and the AFL are wondering today why attendances are down. It just makes me wonder about Hawks President Kennett suggesting women could one day play the game. In the NAB cup this season Collingwood captain Maxwell was hospitalised for 3 days with internal bleeding & 3 broken ribs, and missed several games but Eagles player Embley after a similar front on hit to Thomas had no case to answer. In a contact sport one player is seriously maimed , and his aggressor achieves the all clear, Thomas hits a player who is uninjured but is suspended for what ? What will Thomas learn from being suspended, come on folks please help me here. All players are coached to attack the ball, and hit hard. Nth Melb player Ziebell is suspended for a hit on Riewoldt, i just want to know how he was expected to stop when moving at full speed to avoid contact. Unfortunately I'm afraid AFL is stuffed ! !

  • Is it possible MALTHOUSE could be CAPTAINED out come finals time?

Is the Malthouse worse nightmare yet to come? With current captain Nick Maxwell a chance to miss the 2012 finals, and former captain Buckley due to replace Malthouse in 2012, all the media drongos are currently thinking up conspiracy theories to help scuttle the pies final hopes, but would hate, not having thought of this ! West Coast, Malthouse's former club where he won 2 flags are sitting pretty for a crack at the 2011 premiership and are lead by 2 of his " former captains" senior coach John Worsfold and assistant coach Scott Burns (Collingwood captain 2008). Imagine the media frenzy for headlines, if Malthouse and Collingwood, failed in the grand final against West Coast . It couldn't happen could it. Collingwood is the last club to rise from last (1976) to a grand final the following year (1977) they failed to win, but the next team to do it could ? West Coast finished last in 2010, when Malthouse last won a flag.

  • Will MELBOURNE fc ever recover from its stupidity?

The Melbourne fc chose Dean Bailey an untried coach 4 years ago, instead of Kevin Sheedy, and now they have sacked him. Sheedy an experienced 4 time premiership and 27 year coach, was unbelievably rejected in favor of Bailey. The Melbourne football club administration have now proved their total stupidity and incompetence and should resign immediately.

  • Will Collingwood have selection problems for Carlton game?

Collingwood played Nth Melb with 7 premiership players missing. N.Brown is finished for season, while Dawes is out another 3weeks. Didak, Beams, Johnson, McCaffer, could all soon be due to return from injury, then they have Goldsack unable to get a game at the minute.

  • Did Collingwood lose to Geelong in R8 By umpire error or not?

When Pendlebury played on and kicked the 'winning goal' from the advantage rule, the umpire revoked the rule asking the original Collingwood player to take his free kick. The siren sounded and the Cats won by default, and now "incorrectly" hold top place, and their coach, a games record of wins for a rookie coach. When i mention this AFL rule and umpire stuff up to people, they just laugh and say dont worry, it was only Collingwood ! Now thats fine i understand that sentiment , but if Collingwood win this years flag under the same circumstances against "your" team, what then will be your opinion on AFL studipity ?

  • Why do we not have an INTERCHANGE & SUB rule setup for UMPIRES?

The AFL football operations person said we needed a sub rule because it was unfair that one club can overuse the interchange, while the opposing club may have players out of the game injured, and that he considered unfair. Coach's can rest players on the interchange, who are playing poorly or who have made an error, which may have cost the team a goal, they are held accountable for their actions . The AFL are trying hard to turn the game into a circus, and while their umpires can control the outcome and end result of games,i ask why not also hold umpires accountable for mistakes during games, and interchange rest or sub them off as required like players. An umpire was obviously tricked into paying a free in saturdays game to Geelong resulting in a goal. The Geelong player openly admitted next morning, even thinking it was funny that he "milked a free from his young Essendon opponnent ".That umpire needed be removed from the game immediately, or subed out for his total incompetence, and for good measure drug tested . That umpiring decision could have cost the Bombers the game, and that also Mister operations manager is wrong unfair, and incomprehensable ! The competitive nature and professionalism of todays game allows coach's to take players from the ground and explain mistakes by instant replay on computer. Why not use the same technolodgy to explain umpiring mistakes during a game. Yes i know some smarty will say the game will be delayed too long while all their mistakes are discussed, however in all seriousness updating the professionalism of umpires is paramount. Umpires conned into paying frees like the Essendon incident resulting in a goal is in simple terms cheating. If i was umpires boss i would insist umpires never again pay frees to that Geelong player again. If it eventually puts the player out the game so be it. The AFL need to fair in making the game fair for all , and start by making umpires full time instead of part time as they are now?

NB: Yes,if you are wondering, I am sick of the AFL circus and the clowns that run it !

  • Should Ablett and Selwood both be cited by the MRP ?

Chanel 10 showed a 2 second glimpe of Ablett striking Norths Harvey to the jaw,and didn't repeat it, while at the MCG, the boundary rider Mark Howard seemed a little horrified at Selwoods treatment of the Hawks Guerra, who had to be helped from the ground. No camera shots of Selwoods incident were shown? It seemed the commentators didn't want to know about it! Last week they showed Thomas's hit on Jones 25 times ??? . From what i saw of Ablett's hit, he should get 2 weeks if the MRP are fair dinkum !

  • Did anyone hear that deluded Rugby commentator?

Welcoming fans in America and around the world through Fox sports he said, "rugby state of origin, NSW V Queensland, is the envy of sports administrators Australia wide". Aussie rules (the worlds greatest game) is watched and televised through 6 states and a territory, not just 2 states like rugby. Who possibly are the administrators he refers to ? I hope the Australian Society for the Prevention of deluded bozo rugby commentators, take action on these misleading remarks asap !!

  • Should we have a Bobby Davis tribute before R9 Games ?

In a tribute to Bobby Davis before all R9 games, wouldn't it be "fair dinkum unbelievable" to have a minutes 'APPLAUSE', rather than a minutes silence, in appreciation of the family man, Geelong fc legend, player, state rep, coach, footy analyst, and comedy entertainer .

  • Is it true or just a whisper, GWS want to Steal Sidebottom ?

I 'd hate to think Steele could be stolen from the pies. Surely the club would, or should have him locked into a long term contract by now.

  • Could a PUSS CATorial CATastrophe be about to happen?

Two nights ago i had a dream that both Nth Melbourne and Geelong will finish the 2011 season on the same points . While both teams appear to be coached by the same bloke, this of course is natural considering they are 'identical twins', and at the end of the season both will be after the same position, a place in the 8. As the dream unfolds, experienced 2nd year coach Brad, wins out, taking 8th place from twin, and rookie Geelong coach Chris, seperated only by "percentage". The dream became a media frenzied nightmare, as both waited on final results of the season , Nth Melb, with the easier game at home against Richmond and Geelong away against Collingwood at the G. If this all unfolds as outlined, remember you read it here first 16/3/2011, however i'm thinking as a dream, its possibly just little more than the result of a "nostrildrama" !

  • How many weeks will Goddard get for concussing Picken?

In 1977 Collingwood's Carman was suspended 2 weeks, and missed the Grand Final for chopping the arm of Tuck, Hawthorn. In 2002 J Cloke Collingwood was suspended and missed the Grand Final for a hit to Edwards of Adelaide, requiring 3 stiches on his nose scratch. In 2003 Rocca Collingwood missed the Grand Final for a hip and shoulder bump, claimed to be an elbow, on Lade of Pt Adelaide, who didnt fall and wasn't injured. Goddard belted Picken who was listed in Sunday papers as having concussion, a head injury ? The Collingwood players suspended from Grand Finals did not inflict a concussion injury on their opponnents. Goddard should at least get 3 weeks.

  • After R2 Geelong President Costa Called Mick Malthouse a Control freak, will he regret that this weekend?

Since Milne abused Malthouse at 1/4 time in R2, then later the AFL fined Malthouse for retaliating to the remark, the loyalty and respect of the Collingwood players for their coach is such that they have not been beaten or disapointed Malthouse since. After last years 73 pt Prelim Final flogging by Geelong, and now followed by Costa's R2 outburst against Malthouse, the intensity, hype, and passion to "respond" will be electric in the Collingwood rooms before Fridays game, All that incentive for the Pies, and now this week silly Geelong coach Thompson, adds more fuel to the fire claiming Collingwood as copy cats to the Geelong style of play ?

  • Should Collingwood dump a 3rd CLOKE?

Collingwood kick 4.17 against the Saints and for 5 years now, Travis Cloke has failed to learn how to kick a goal from a set shot, 30 meters out? From the 2009 top 4 teams, Cloke, compared to players playing the same position, finished 4th , the same position his team finished the season, 4th. Nick Riewoldt booted 78 goals 47, Cam Mooney 46.42, Mitch Hahn 38.14 and Cloke 22.26 . For the game against St Kilda Collingwood dropped their 2009 leading goal kicker John Anthony 50.28 and set up a forward line with Cloke and Leigh Brown, another player who can't kick a set shot at goal, scoring less than 14 goals in '09 and failing to make a list of 10 Collingwood goalkickers. Cloke's father manager David said they were not interested in an offer from the Gold Coast, the Gold Coast club denied making an offer or being interested. Collingwood could do well to consider a trade to David Cloke's old club Richmond. In a bottom of the ladder team Mitch Morton kicked 41. 26 with Jack Riewoldt next 32.27. Both would no doubt enjoy playing in a team at least good enough to make the 8,and get more scoring opportunity, while mediocre Cloke would equally be at home in a mediocre bottom of the ladder team. New coach in waiting Nathan Buckley, said on radio 3AW before the St Kilda game there is not enough time in the week to teach players to kick, while Senior coach Mick Malthouse actually "has time" this season, to commentate for SEN? Its just so dissappointing for the beleagued toothless Magpie supporters, that they 'cant speak' out and at least suggest, while Mick and Eddie who often mention the Collingwood family, and obviously have to work 2nd jobs commentating to pay their players, why not get former ace goal kicker Peter McKenna to spend sometime at the "paddock" with their dud goalkickers. Isn't that how a family works in hard times, everyone pitching in to help ?
