Very happily married with a perfect little boy! I do not claim to be smart and certainly not wise. I will post things base on experience or belief. However, I am a flawed human being that will say things that I may regret or change my mind about later. But, whatever I say, you can be sure that it's honest and from my heart. Feel free to let me know how happy or unhappy you are with my posts. I am always open to new ideas!

  • Dancers: Foot Undeez or Foot Mittens?

The Mittens seem to cover more foot area and they have an extra toe hole. They also look like they might be a bit more comfortable as far as the elastic is concerned. The Undeez seem like they might be more breathable and more durable than the Mittens. Any thoughts?

  • What does this symbol mean?

It's two inverted triangles, one inserted into the top of the other one, creating another inverted triangle in between them. I have seen it 4 times in the past two days. Once in a tattoo, once on a tshirt, and twice on the internet. What on earth does it mean?

  • 83% is 84% of my grade. 69% is 16% of my grade. What is my final grade?

The averages of all of my tests will be held as 84% of my total grade. The average of all of my homework assignments will be held at 16% of my grade. My average test score was 83% and my average homework score was 69%. How do I calculate this? I'd prefer if you actually told me HOW to do it instead of just doing it for me.

Not a part of some assignment. Just took my final. Trying to figure out what grade I got in the class.

  • Is there an easy way to check for diesel fuel in motor oil?

Other than simply waiting for the oil levels to overflow? We might have injection pump or injector issues in our 2002 Dodge Cummins, but we want to check for diesel in the oil. Surely theres some neat little trick to it.

  • I need recipes using sandwich bread that are not just "make a sandwich."?

Somehow, I ended up with four, partially consumed loaves of sandwich bread in my kitchen. One loaf has 6 slices left, one has 8, etc. I do not freeze bread so I can either make stuff with it or give it to neighbors. Do you have any recipe suggestions? I suppose I could make bread pudding (although it'd probably be soggy) or some kind of cream cheese roll-up thing (crab or bacon?) Help me use up this bread!

    2. Sexy songs (For taking care of sexy business)

    3. Mad songs (Songs that punch you in the eardrums so you don't punch someone else.)

    4. Sad songs (Songs that you say you identify with when you're depressed, but to be honest, they just make it worse.)

    5. Happy songs (Songs for when you've swallowed a rainbow and want the whole world to know that it tasted good.)

    Any genre. Any decade.

  • Book suggestions? Good maps of WWI and WWII?

I would like one or two books with maps of Africa, Europe, China, Japan, and the Middle East through WWI and then through WWII. Including close ups of problem areas like the Balkans during WWI, etc. Just the maps. Very little to no discussions etc.

Can anyone suggest books for me?

  • A better way to do internet?

Background: Several of my college classes this year will be online via mostly interactive web-lectures. These classes have attendane requirements that say I have to be online at a certain time, on a certain day. Right now, I'm paying $120 a month for my DSL line at home. Well, turns out that I will have to travel quite a bit this semester for work. I do have a wifi enabled laptop.

Question: I have been looking into mobile hotspots lately and while they are cheaper and more convenient than my DSL connection at home, I feel like I would use more than the monthly GB's that these companies have plans for (of course you can buy more, but at $10 a GB....) Not to mention the iffiness of connectivity using wireless internet. BUT, I have to be able to get online when and where I need to. Reliably.

Any suggestions? Are there any other ways to do this?!

  • Shoe arch does not fit my foot arch. How can I make it so that I can wear these shoes?

I bought a new pair of platform wedges online. When I got them, I found that my foot's arch does not fit the shoes arch. If I move my foot back to where the arch on the shoe is, my heel hangs off of the back and my toes aren't were they're supposed to be. If I move my toe and heel into the correct position, then the arch is about a half an inch further back than my own arch.

    Facts:

    1) I have come to the conclusion that these shoes are simply poorly made.

    2) That being said, I can not return them. The woman i bought them from will not take returns.

    Any thoughts?

    I love these shoes.

  • How can I learn not to panic in emergencies?

We had a horrific forest fire here this week. When I first saw it, my first thought was to panic. I didn't lose it, but I got very agitated and terrified. My husband (bless him) was level-headed and stoic throughout the whole thing so he kept me grounded. Like I said, I didn't freeze up or freak out, I just got anxious and i couldn't think straight.

Is there a way to train yourself not to panic in emergency situations? Is experience the only way? I want to be calm and level-headed if this ever happens again.

  • 80's toy question: 3 inch tall Barbie-like dolls?

They were 3 (ish) inches tall, had movable arms and legs, and hair. Just like Barbies, they had clothing and shoes that you could buy for them. What in the world were they called? I had at least 20 of them....

  • TurboTax through my bank or H&R Block with lower fees?

My bank and TurboTax have some sort of an agreement now. I can do everything through my bank. But, Turbo Tax looks like it'll cost us $120 (state and federal combined) plus $40 for the Audit Defense. H&R Block will cost us $90 (state and fed combined) with free audit support.

Now, these prices usually go up after I actually file the taxes, but not enormously. Which is the better deal? I have used TurboTax before and had a lukewarm experience.

  • What is a more healthy way to deal with this woman? (Home-wrecker question)?

I suppose that is what you'd call her: a home-wrecker. She knows me. She knows my husband. She knows we're married. And yet she openly flirts with him every chance she gets. Simply avoiding her is getting to be an issue because we live in a small town and she works at a store that has items we need for our business, but can not get anywhere else. She also dates my husbands friend on and off.

Originally, it was simply an itch in the back of my brain. I trust my husband implicitly, but I was unhappy with her disrespect for my family. Lately, she is starting to make my husband very uncomfortable. He dreads going into this store. Yesterday, she crossed the line. Up until now it's just been a trashy, verbal flirting kind of thing, but yesterday, she "accidentally" pushed herself up against him.

Ten years ago, when I was not a wife and mother, I would have simply punched her in the face. However, that is very much not an appropriate reaction to begin with, let alone now that I have so much to lose to jail time....

What do I do? How do I handle this? Should I go to her boss? Should I simply confront her and tell her to stop? Should we MOVE?!

  • How to SANITIZE the inside of a Bearpaw boot?

Sheepskin boot with super furry insides. Everyone says to clean the inside with baking soda and corn flour. Not going to work for me. I need to sanitize the insides of these boots. Not making them smell better, but downright killing foot bacteria. If I can't get some kind of sanitzation happening, I'm going to throw them out. However, I do love them and want to save their lives.

    These ideas have been suggested:

    1. Wash them in a washing machine. Normal heat, normal cycle, but with Woolite.

    2. Wash them in a washing machine. Cold water, gentle cycle, with Woolite.

    3. Spray inside of boot with an insane amount of Lysol disinfecting spray.

    4. Use disinfecting wipes inside the boots.

Which solution will allow me to keep and wear the boots, but sanitize the nonsense out of the insides?

  • Are there any eyeglasses retailers that will give me glasses with a three year old prescription?

I need a new pair of glasses because the lenses in the ones I'm wearing are scratched. The last prescription I have is dated three years ago, but I do not have enough money to pay for a "we won't give you glasses without an exam first" exam. Can't I waive my exam and just get a new pair of glasses?! My prescription is fine and my glasses are so scratched that they could be dangerous in the right light.

  • I need an egg-less zucchini bread recipe.....?

I would like to make zucchini bread (we harvested TONS from our garden this year.) I need a good recipe without eggs; preferably one that someone has tried out. No egg substitute products either. I could pick one from the Internet, but I'd like someone to recommend one to me. :)

  • Methods for teaching children (4-7) appreciation: Which is more effective?

I'm having a little disagreement with a colleague about the best way for a child to learn appreciation; in this case, we are talking about appreciation for ones toys.

I think the best way is through charity, i.e. having the child go through his or her toys on a regular basis to look for some to donate to the local battered women's shelter. My colleague believes that buying exclusively used toys and fixing toys that break are the only ways to teach appreciation for toys. While I think that a) learning to fix toys, and b) learning that used toys are just as cool as new toys are two very important lessons, I feel like my colleague's way is more negative reinforcement in that it withholds something to teach appreciation of that thing. I feel like that could lead to a host of other issues like resentment, etc.

Does anyone have any input on this? There are pros and cons to both sides.
