  • What does this symbol mean? I think it's chinese, but it could be another asian language?

I just read a horror story where a girl got a tattoo of her boyfriend's name, but when she showed it to someone who read chinese it turned out that it said "supermarket". I stupidly got a tattoo without doing any research ahead of time so now I'm worried that it may not say what I think it says.

  • Differences between Hillary and Barack--"Experience" vs. "Change" as displayed on their websites

Our state's primary is in a few weeks so I started looking up information on the Democratic Candidates. I knew that in the media HC was emphasizing her experience and BHO was emphasizing his desire for change, but I was really astonished at how clearly they demonstrated this on their websites.

I went to the "Issues" sections of both of their websites and compared the info they had posted regarding their positions on several of the same issues.

I found that on HC's site, they would give a synopsis of the issue, a basic general outline of the results she would like to acheive (but not much about HOW she would go about getting the results) and a whole lot about how she's voted or acted regarding that issue in the past.

In contrast, on BHO's site, there would be synopsis of the issue, then an explanation of what he would do about it (often very specific plans), but not so much about his past work with the issue.

Wouldn't it be better for them to show both experience & plans?

  • Roman History Buffs--How accurate was HBO's series Rome?

I enjoyed the show very much, but Rome is not my area of expertise. I was wondering how much the show got wrong.

For example, I had to stop watching The Tudors on Showtime because it was soooooooo inaccurate. Some of the things that were changed supposedly for dramatic purposes, didn't really have to be changed, they were dramatic enough already! IMO, anyway. I wondered if this was the case with Rome as well.

  • Isn't it cheating to answer math questions for people? I've noticed that a lot of people will post...?

questions in the math or history sections that are very, very, obviously their homework. I think they do that do avoid the rules under homework help, ie no cheating.

When I see those I usually tell the person how to get the answer without giving them the answer. They'll never learn otherwise.

Yet it seems like a ton of people have no problem just giving out answers like that. I think that it's cheating and shouldn't be allowed. Not because I'm cranky; but because when that person has to take a test they'll never be able to do it. It's actually not good for them in the long run.

  • English History Experts: Why is Henry VIII portrayed with dark hair in his early portraits when we know...?

he had fair (reddish) hair from later portraits and from historical accounts. My theory is that it is because of the negative stereotypes/superstitions about red hair. When he was young and unproven the palace wouldn't want the populace to really know that he was a redhead, but once he had proven his worth they knew his rep would be okay regardless. What do you think?

To see portraits, follow link and click "play the morph". It shows a morph of portraits throughout his life.

  • Wedding ceremony songs--what is popular? I am amateur right now, but hoping to start singing at weddings.?

I would like to know what songs people want you to sing at their wedding so that I can have the most popular songs already prepared and then I can add to those with other requests. I figure that there have got to be a bunch of "standard" songs that people usually want. Thanks in advance for the help!
