right now i'm on my mom's desktop. but my personal laptop won't work right. when i turn it on, it will go to the screen that says "Starting Windows." but then the screen after that, which is suppose to be my log in screen, stays completely black minus the cursor. but whenever i move the cursor at all, the screen dims down and stays the same. it just starting doing this a little while ago. when i was on it earlier, it said that it needed to do updates so i let it restart itself. and now it's messing up. by the way, i do NOT watch or do anything inappropriate on it so i highly doubt that's it. and i didn't open in emails this morning either. any help you can give would be great. it's a Toshiba in case that helps. This is a question on my College Algebra homework, so if you don't understand College Algebra, please don't bother answering this question. The question is:

Use the Intermediate Value Theorem and Synthetic Division to find an interval (a,b) which contains a real zero where a and b are consecutive integers.

The function i have to use is: f(x)= (x^3)+(3x^2)-9x+3

(I used those parenthesis to help keep things separated)

it seems like every time i find a guy i'm interested in, as soon as they see her, they fall for her. it annoys the crap out of me because i tell them she has a boyfriend, and she really does. but that just seems to make them try harder. i'm so sick of it. i can understand that i am not the prettiest person in the world, but at least i'm not a jerk all the time. this whole situation has been going on since i met her 8 years ago. it just bugs me because guys can't understand the fact that she is taken and all i'm trying to do is be a good friend. i haven't told my friend how this mess makes me feel because she doesn't even know that guys do this. and i don't want to say something that would hurt her feelings. if you have any ideas for how i can either talk to her about it or move on, please let me know. it makes me feel less special than her. thanks

so i'm friends with this guy at my church and he's super sweet. he also plays basketball at church with my brother and he is a really great influence for the younger guys in our youth group. i've had a crush on him for the past month or so. and only one other person in my youth group knows. i do talk to this guy so it's not like i just like him because he looks good. i know if i need to talk to someone about anything that i'm going through, he'll be happy to listen because he wants to do what he can to help other people, regardless of who they are. i really would like to be more than friends with him, but i don't really know if he wants to be in a relationship right now.

so what do you think i should do? should i just leave it alone? or what? i'm confused. thanks for any help you can give!

i have a friend that is in some of my classes with me. she isn't from here, but we haven't had any problems before with disagreeing. but today as we were coming into our last class together, another girl followed her into the room from her previous class. i'm going to call my friend emily for the sake of this question. the other girl will be betty. now i had a class last year with "betty" and she caused a lot of problems for pretty much everyone in that class. so when betty came into my class, she seemed like she was trying to talk crap about me to emily, saying that i was a nobody. i have a major problem with this because i have NEVER caused any problems with betty, never picked a fight with her or anything like that. how do you think i should approach this situation? should i even think anything of it? or should i stop talking to emily? i had told emily about some of the things that went on during the class i had with betty lost year and i think she went and told what was said. i'm not going to stand for people talking crap about me behind my back. especially when i've tried to be helpful to them and be a friend

i've been having ear pains for about 3 days now. i want to the doctor yesterday and they cleaned my ear out. i was really hoping it would help, but i feel like it's gotten worse. i didn't sleep last night because i was in such bad pain. so i was wondering what you guys think i such do. since i've already been to the doctor, the next step is the hospital. the pain feels like someone is stabbing me in the ear. so what do you think is wrong?

basically, since my younger brother started high school, he has been very difficult to be around. he's mad all the time and he just seems very angry toward everyone. it really bothers me because he always that's it out on my mom and i. he is the only boy we have in our family. my mom is very stressed out by the way he's been treating us and it's getting on my nerves. i just would like to know if there is anything i can do to try and encourage him to change or if it would just be best to leave it alone. he is 15 yrs old and i don't know if it is a normal thing. thanks for your answers!

i have a friend in my dance class at school and this is our first year of high school. about the three week into school, she had a boyfriend that she really liked. i didn't meet him until our school's pep rally and he didn't really make a good first impression on me. the monday after our homecoming game, my friend told me that they weren't teagether anymore and she said it was becuz he was jelious of her other guy friends. it has been about 5 or 6 weeks since then and she is really depressed all of a sudden. she says that she still likes him but doesn't want him. she even started cutting herself. i don't know what kind of advice to give her. if anyone has any ideas, please tell me. i don't want her to hurt herself. thanks!

My dad's girlfriend has a really bad attitude toward my little brother. The last time he and I went up there, we were in our room trying to sleep because it was like 7:00am and her son had came in our room earlier in the night and locked our door. Well, we didn't know this and he came back to our door and tried to open it. Then he went downstairs and started yelling at his mother. My brother went downstairs soon after that and all I hear is my dad's girlfriend yelling. I went down and found out that she was yelling at my brother for not letting her son in our room when we were trying to sleep. I starting yelling back...Did i do the right thing?
